  1. Arcanum virgin seeks advice on getting a piece of arcanum

If you want an effective character that takes advantage of the game's poor balancing pick a human or half-elf, give it decent intelligence, good charisma ( needed not only for convos but to take advantage of the large number of followers available) and focus on being a melee fighter early on...
  2. Best game I played since a long time

I have it around here somewhere. Never got far in it, the devs were classy enough to include a savegame/load counter that evaluated your saving habits, gave you a rating...lulz. Its certainly a more deep and challenging game than Rune though, from what I remember it had no strafing though...
  3. has an rpg ever made you cry?

The memories.... *reaches for anti depressives box*
  4. Let's Play STRIFE ! (Finished.)

Saw it on a friends house way back when it came out, seemed really cool then. Problem was when I tried it myself. Back then there was no Z-DOOM or whatever and you only had one save I believe, and although strife was a pretty good game overall its just filled with moments where you can make a...
  5. Evil Islands: Curse of the lost soul- First impressions.

Word on the web is that spells are useful as support but you cant really rely 100% on them for combat and such. I havent gotten around to mixing runes or even item blueprints yet, so I dont know how good are those systems.
  6. Evil Islands: Curse of the lost soul- First impressions.

While searching for some old rpgs that I havent tried I came across this one. Russian made title, a bit...cheesy and the main character personality is..heh but the game itself seems fairly interesting and unique. I only played for a very short time, completed the first 2 missions in the...
  7. Preview Negative Dragon Age preview

How is this surprising...what the preview describes I mean. Seems like standard Baldurs Gate 2 Romance to me. Neither better nor worse. Same shit, same bioware flavor. So if this is supposed to be a slightly "darker" Baldurs Gate 3 why all the whining? Its exactly what bioware always done...
  8. Preview Lo and behold, choices and consequences in Divinity 2

Beyond Divinity is certainly more linear than divine divinity, but only when it comes to travelling around ( since the original DD didnt have much true CnC at all, BD actually allows more CnC from what little I remember) but I found it overall a better game. Which is curious since everyone...
  9. Take-Two Interactive to Indie Gaming: Fuck you

So in an economic crisis the game makers and publishers should focus on few of the more expensive titles? Ok. I suppose somedevs described as indies may be charging too much for their titles though.
  10. WTF BBQ new monkey island games???

The memories.... I can remember the secret of monkey island tune playing on my old 286 pc speaker. I never tried the more recent monkey island after monkey island 2, maybe I should. Dunno about this new episodic stuff. Why not focus on making a single game in a larger scale.
  11. Bully for pc...

Is the Bully pc port a good game? I checked the minimum system requirements and it seems this old pc might not be able to run it, but im not sure. Will I be able to run it decently with a 2.8 ghz pentium 4, 1 gig ram and an ancient ATI RADEON 9600 with 256 video memory?
  12. New Dosbox version is out - 0.73

I recommend the ultima underworlds, the xcoms , wing commander privateer, darklands, jagged alliance 1, worlds of ultima: the savage empire... Some other fun oldschoo DOS games of various genres that I remember ( if anyone is feeling in an oldschool gaming mood): -stunts -4d sports boxing...
  13. Looking for some informed opinions about space sims.

Thanks for the replies. About Independence war 2 I have it on a disk around here. Forgot about that one maybe ill dl the manual from replacement docs and give it a go later. Butl honestly the more realistic flight models do not interest me too much, I played " Elite Plus " ( the vga...
  14. New Dosbox version is out - 0.73

I hope so. Point of new dosbox versions is that hopefully you can run shit you previously couldnt or shit you could better. I guess I was just adding to the forum clutter with this post. I didnt read much of the update info, but there seems to be svga integrated into the normal dosbox...
  15. Looking for some informed opinions about space sims.

The more open kind if possible. Im not looking for something to play hardcore, more something I can play for a couple of hours here and then. My first idea was just to fire up dosbox and run my wing commander privateer cd installation since I loved it way back and but never fully enjoyed...
