You are required to explain the exact involvement of the horse(s) in the game as I can only remember a handful of horses in jRPGs. It will be possible to bullshit me completely but that's just fun. Also chocobos are not horses.

I guess Final Fantasy wins then due to an infinite supply of horse like creatures in random encounters.
I honestly can't remember their names, but I assure you they're not chocobos.
With that said, I seem to recall that "chocobo" was changed to "horsebird" briefly in FF14's development cycle.
