I actually found the real-time controls to be some-what ok. Ambushing was implemented nicely by allowing your players to auto-attack if the percentage-to-hit was above a certain level.

TB was painfully slow though, maybe because there were so many characters involved.

The other thing I just noticed again, and which bugged me the first time I played it is the fact that we are suddenly using uzis and shit - guns that weren't in Fallout or it's sequel. Why couldn't they just stick to the normal 10mm SMG and the like?

If I remember correctly, China invaded USA through Alaska, then pour down to West Coast. The weapons used in Fallout 1 and 2 is the leftover from that period. The sniper rifle is a variant of Dragunov ruskie gun, SMG is a Chinese variant of MP5? The tiny details escaped me at the moment.

Fallout Tactics is in the Central area, so maybe the weapons are more in the line of US stuffs?

I always figured it was a case of alternate timeline - the Uzi was never even built in the Fallout universe.

Well, that went a lot better than expected, seeing as the alarm went off that early. And BUMFACE is one lucky son of a bitch.. I thought that was my ticket into this squad, yet he managed to survive. :o

Well, as the weapons get increasingly more deadly, I'm sure all of us new recruits will get a chance to join up eventually.. :twisted:

Don't forget the enemies' endurance, these will grow up too; when you're fighting several super mutants that can be shot more than once and shrug it off while they're armed with heavy weapons you'll know what's pain.

I hated the super muties armed with rocket launchers.. By that time, I had usually trained up a deathclaw to have the silent running feat, then have it sneak up behind them and start whacking away in real-time. I found that to be the most consistently succesful way to not being blown to pieces.

On his safe return, Brahmin Wood's Elder, informed our Inquisitors, that he had been moved from camp to camp, presumably to keep his location a secret. Unfortunately, he was forced to wear a hood to prevent him from mapping his route and the location of the bandits camps.

One bit of information was learned. It seems some bandit groups are meeting some kind of opposition in the West. We didn't get any details, but the raiders have never won a conflict with this new presence. This could be just fearful mutterings of superstitious raiders, but it would give reason to their heightened activities in this region. The Brotherhood must investigate this new possible threat.

The informant has been paid and is on his way to retrieve information on the new menace. You did well keeping him alive during your mission and your attention to detail will bring you into high favor within the Brotherhood.

Intelligence reports that the woman you freed is not from the surrounding villages. That is not unusual since the raiders' slave network is vast. While you might have saved an innocent from the horrors of captivity, you should have brought her back for interrogation. Do not let sympathy overcome your duty.

Oh, I almost forgot. It's perk time!

Yes. Soon he'll be going up against laser turrets or rocket-launcher wielding and grenade-spamming raiders. First one, then the other, depending on what mission he chooses first..

But before that, one more mission with idiotic raiders.

And if we're lucky, we'll see some gory deaths on a mine-field. :twisted:

Well, I think our high PER (~8 for most our units) was the main reason behind our glorious victory.
Those poor raiders couldn't hit shit in the darkness. Anyway, camping snipers FTW!

Pray that you'll find that encounter with the first combat shotguns, and trust me: you'll want someone with skills to use a power fist, ripper or diamond spear to avoid rape and loot some juicy micro fusion cells. You're gonna need some armor-piercing gear soon
