Well, I didn't really "get" Fallout the first time I played it but I did enjoy it and finished it twice. I'm eager to play the second one. I liked Baldur's Gate and want to play the second one too. I even managed to complete Ultima IV once although it was somewhat painful. I have fond memories of Planescape but I hated that it wouldn't let me avoid most of the combat.

I think I just need more in a gaem than combat to keep me entertained. What does that make me?

Have you tried adventure games? All story, no combat!

I don't have a problem with combat and I enjoy it when it's challenging, tactical and has lots of options. But I like to have a reason for going aruond the forest and murdering everybody at least.

The problem with PST was it didn't make sense for the combat to be mandatory given the plethora of ways you can play the character. This was especially frustrating when the amount of combat overshadowed everything else that was good about the game (e.g. the prison).

I don't think a vast majority of cRPG's will be to your liking. I think Strategy games would be the type of games you would prefer more.

That doesn't make sense. I just explained that I get bored with games that are all combat and no story. Same with games that are all story and no combat. So CRPGs are right up my alley, and MM1 is obviously not a CRPG but glorified chess.

What? most strategy games have story driven single player campaigns.

There are only 3 mandatory combats in PST, the rest you are free to run away from.

A storyfag. You'd probably enjoy bioware's games more than any blobbers.
Don't listen to this guy or allow yourself to be labelled as anything other than an rpg fan.

The jail and leading up to it has like 30 incredibly painful combat encounters. You can stealth your way in but not out iirc.

Edit: also Baator, the Fortress and Carceri. If there was a way to avoid all those trash mobs I sure missed it.

quest for glory, heroine quest, quest for infamy....

Well, one could argue that those are adventure/RPG hybrids rather than "pure" adventure games. Good games nevertheless - Servo, if you're not opposed to a game having both combat and story, you could do a lot worse than try the games that SuicideBunny mentioned. :)

I've played more RPGs than those few I mentioned but the question was which ones I liked. Souls goes at the top of the list but it's more of an action game imo.

Of course I played all the Mass Effects, Elder Scrolls 3-5, etc. etc. most of it was crap (except Morrowind).
