In the face of the decline, is Bethesda the least declined company?

SAVE THIS CHARACTER? NO.
Codex 2013 Codex 2014 PC RPG Website of the Year, 2015 Codex 2016 - The Age of Grimoire Serpent in the Staglands Divinity: Original Sin Torment: Tides of Numenera BattleTech I'm very into cock and ball torture
Who could have anticipated that the release of Grimoire would be more detrimental to Codex culture than the GG dumpster fire?

The heart and soul of Bethesda, 'The Hero Journey'

Bethesda are aiming for this, they yet have to make it right, maybe with TES VI ?

Bethesda has used this model in their games, as much as GTA San Andreas has implemented RPG aspects. Granted, 90% of stuff fits into this model, which is kinda the whole point of it.

Bethesda is shit.

Yes but compared to other companies they are still staying true to their roots.

Skyrim is still essentially the same game as Daggerfall.

They didn't kill Westwood. They don't kill franchise just for the sake of killing franchise. But they are so repetitive.....I mean Oblivion, Oblivion with guns, Oblivion with dragons, Oblivion with lego construction....even EA used a different formula for C&C Generals and Battle for Middle Earth.

What? No. Just look at Fallout 4. It's even worse than 3. By the next game there will be no more dialogue, you get a fixed character (tranny with down-syndrome) and you shoot at everything. I'd rather give title of "least decline" to Piranha Bytes. The games are still like Gothic 1. Worse? Yeah. But still nice RPGs. Bethesda publishes a lot of great action games though.

Bethesda was the motor of the decline. If you could imagine the decline as the runaway school bus moving down children and elderly people, bethesda would be a fucking insane driver laughing from joy.

It was considered a fucking joke when it came out and Bethesda got shit for it. Now it's considered the norm in industry.

Essentially if you look at what is Daggerfall at core, it's a first person action game where you mash the mouse buttons to attack.
Fast forward 20 years later and you get Skyrim, what is essentially the same formula.
So looking at this logic, wouldn't it be that Bethesda is taking just the next logical step in their gaming development and making Elder Scrolls what they were supposed to be in the first place?

A fantasy player power adventure ?
Yep. They always wanted to make shitty dumb action games that pose as RPGs. They now have a huge budget to do it.

On top of that they have a huge crowd of brain dead retards who throw money at their shoddy games.

Least declined. Hmmmm its hard to say, certainly they have stuck to the core of their gameplay since the early 1990s, and they were a pioneer of the sub-genre as well. However with each iteration they take more and more out of the RPG aspects and simplify (without making any better or more elegant) many things. As a narrow study in this simply compare Vampirism/Lycanthropy from Daggerfall to Morrowind all the way up to Skyrim. The trend is pretty poor and is clearly quite declinatory. The slope of the trend in this narrow focus is at least a negative incline of 45 degrees possibly even 60. Its not good.

Yeah they won the fate lottery. If we get another life, everyone in Bethesda will come back as a dung beetle to even it out.
