If I was going to make a violent game it would be truly gruesome. Outlast is probably the goriest game I've played, but it all comes off as tryhard, even though it still manages to be pornographic in a few instances. I would want all my violence and sex to be frank and uncensored.

In the Hatred trailer, Not Important takes a shotgun to a person's face and blows the head clean off. My games would feature buckshot wounds and chunks blown off in a case like that. No surrender, no retreat.

Steam doesn't have a general policy requiring ESRB ratings though, so if they were to suddenly demand that Hatred get one, it would as obvious they don't want to sell the game as if they had just banned it themselves.

Are you idiots ? Steam can't make someone do ESRB nor can anyone get this game to ESRB without devs consent. Nor they can do anything when game is without ESRB rating because there are already games without ESRB rating on Steam.

ESRB is mainly for retail releases and it is voluntary thing. Also their company is not even in US so all rulings in US are meaningless.
Also it's digital age. They may simply ban game from US Steam and leave it for rest so context of ESRB is meaningless as game is essentially not released in US in such case

It doesn't stop there. The original versions of Left for Dead 2 or the Manhunts were actually seized and destroyed by courts and are forbidden to be distributed in Germany. In those cases, Steam just blocks access to these games in those areas, or the developer makes a special version. Which means that Valve themselves know these issues very well.

Meanwhile, during the duration of GamerGate there were tons and tons of evidence in regards to people like Anita Sarkeesian, Zoe Quinn and several of their "journalist friends" that came out far beyond "liking" a Facebook page and yet not one of them seems to have wanted to report on any of that.

I can't say I understand the political landscape or groups/events in Poland to be able to evaluate any of that, but I sure as hell can see a character assassination attempt based on very flimsy grounds when I see it.

It would be kinda boring if all you ever did was run around and killing unarmed civilians, so I'm guessing that won't be the "largest" part of the game or biggest gameplay part, but something to attract attention. He also said they'll release another Trailer showing some more stuff on Jan 15.
