Previous Hearts of Iron 2 LPs of mine reached a point of stagnation that made them too unfun to keep going. Recently a new version of the famous Modern Day Scenario was released, 1.6 beta, which actually fixed most of the horrible AI and overpowered Air Force problems of the previous version, but I realized quickly that playing with western democracies is incredibly unfun. I prefer warmongering over waiting years for shit tied to events to happen, if it ever happens.

Then obviously, the answer is what you see in this thread title.

It is crazy, but I'll try to take over the world with Libya itt.

Wish DAIM was compatible with Modern Day Scenario, but playing as Libya may balance this, partially. At least this mod AI is on par with vanilla's, rather than subpar to it as in the previous version.

Also excuse me, but I'll have to write some fluff myself and LARP because unlike the Fallout Mod, MDS 2 is particularly lacking in interesting fluff(for one, the tech components don't have even descriptions yet because it is a beta version).

It was in one night of the year of 1425 AH(2003 in the calendar of the infidels and of the Great Satan), that one event would change the world forever. However, to solve supply and financial needs, sometimes it is necessary to ask for the forgiveness of all-merciful Allah and make some smaller deals with the devil, unaware that they are helping their own demise.

Libya may be small, but with the support of Allah, even Liechstein, supposing Liechstein was Islamic, would emerge victorious in the Jihad.

World's most powerful Navy scouts Tunisia. The results seem very good. Tunisia army is far smaller than the glorious army of the King of Kings, who now will, with the help of God, truly make justice to his title. Soon everything will start. Tensions are starting already, and Great Satan spies are franctic in Libya as they hear the rumors and witness the obvious signs of what is coming, hoping to not be spotted and stoned by the will of Allah.

Before launching the invasion proper, a little after (Great Satan Calendar's) 5th of April when the redeployment of a mechanized infantry unit was concluded, perhaps it is a nice idea to review the might of the Libyan military.

7 units, varying between divisions and brigades, form the Libyan Army. They are the HQ group called "Light of Islam", a Jihadgruppe called "Jihadzkrieg" formed by the only Libyan armored unit and two motorized infantry ones, Gaddafi's Glory formed by an independent mechanized infantry division and finally, the Islamarines, the glorious special forces in service of Libya and Allah.

Tunisia defeat was certain, but with another might, it would be even quicker. Speed was of essence. If the Kwanzanians were still busy with Iraq by the time this is over, they'd be less willing to do anything about this.

Thus the ten air wings of Libya come to the salvation. All of them may be obsolete in face of Great Satan given technology, but are more than a match for what other African countries have. Bringers of Peace are formed by a multirole fighter wing, two air superiority fighter wings and one strike fighter wing. Angels against Great Satan is an exclusively multirole wing, intended to be the basis of air supremacy over Tunisia, while Allah's Wrath is made of strike fighters to provide air support for land forces.

Obviously, no air force in the region would ever match the might of these.

Besides their powerful frigate blessed to have Tomahawk missiles deflected by the hand of God, Libya has some limited amphibious capabilities as well, to make the Islamarines deserve their name.

And now, that everything was set, it was time to put those traitors to their place:

Libya thought they'd never face armies with tanks more obsolete than their T-72s. The Tunisian M60 Pattons disproved this. This battle was a certain victory, but to minimize casualties, the Strike fighters were ordered to start an aerial interdiction against the defenders.

Outnumbered and heavily bombed, the tanks of Tunisia fall one by one, and as they are throughly annihilated through the desert, as Lybia managed to set up an air exclusion zone all over Tunisia, eventually they rout and began their retreat.

They will have no peace. The airplanes change their mission from interdiction to ground attack. Maybe those tanks will never make it back to Tunis.

In 11th April GSC(Great Satan Calendar), this short war already reaches its final battle. With six aircrafts providing air support to the ground forces, in spite of the fierce urban battle. Gaddafi glorious army, after some hours battle, emerge victorious, and now everything is set.

By 12th of April GSC Gaddafi forces finally rout the defenders. One day later the news began to emerge all over the world. The "Libyan blitzkrieg", as it was called by the infidels, was one of the shortest lasting wars in History. The Great Satan meanwhile hasn't yet fully defeated Iraq, which bears good tidings for the future. With the annexation of Tunisia as a Kingdom of the King of Kings, Now Algeria, another consort to the Great Satan and to the infidels, is ripe for the further expansion of the dreamed Africa Caliphate.

Tunisia however, was an easy one, although it virtually doubled the industrial capability of Libya. It was one small, humble step to the greater goal.

Will Kwanzania intervene in the most incovenient time? Will Gaddafi achieve his God-given mission? Eventually, eventually these and other questions shall be answered.

The author of this mod acknowledges the worthlessness of the UN by not bothering to truly represent it through events or a offmap province only country(European Union is playable, provided you enable the EU-specific events to trigger the full unification of Europe in a super-country).

Nope... Libya will have to climb all the way to 1990s standards tech and so on, blueprints are only given to allies. Technologies are deeply interlinked but there is no "starting year", so one can, in theory, neglect other fields to be able to deploy infantry in powered armor by 2010.

According to the average Kwanzanian manboon, ragheads are all the same. "ALLAHU AKBAR! The author is quite open to criticisms and suggestions. Also, the final, non-beta version of MDS 1.6 is going to be made for AoD. I have to say though, that modern times aren't really very interesting for a war-centric grand strategy game like HoI2, and I still prefer the Fallout mod or HoI2 proper with DAIM and SMEP, but it's not really author's fault as much as the fault that modern warfare is far less interesting, both on macro and micro levels, and also at an operational level, at least in my opinion. Fortunately in this version the nuke events are disabled by default. Also, the shift of tech tree compared to the 1.5 version was a bit of a disappointment. The Land doctrine particulary was too split(separate levels for improving Paradropping, Mechanized, Marines, Tanks etc organization and morale) to the point there is no means to choose alternate paths anymore. 1.5 had several different land doctrines, on the other hand.

Falgeria.

The liberation of Tunisia from the Great Satan's bootlicking puppets is just the beginning. Now it was time to think higher. Of a much bigger country than Tunisia, that will surely not be as easy to conquer, but in memory of great men like Robert Mugabe and Idi Amin, no quarter or surrender shall be given to the enemies of the King of Kings. And being subservient to the Amerikwan Djinns is more than enough to warrant the status of enemy of Gaddafi. The glorious Air Force rebase at Tunis, in preparation for this.

Being unable to discover the number of forces at Algeria, and with no idea of what lied in the interior of this traitorous country, Gaddafi trusted his certainty of victory and invincibility as he, in spite of the doubt, still passed on the orders. The screen of opportunity to pull such a conquest, that will almost transform Lybia in a significant regional power, is running short as sooner or later the Great Satan shall conquer Iraq.

Not counting the fact that coupled with other units, they outnumbered the enemy at 7:1, and they had aerial support of two wings of strike fighters Libya is so powerful that nothing can stop their glorious march to make the Third Universal Theory truly Universal.

As the battle carried on, Gaddafi was faced with a choice. He knew that his people were so expendable blessed by the might of invincibility that training for a professional army was superfluous, for they were born warriors already. Thus he chooses to focus on an army where every man shall accomplish his duty to the King of Kings and to Allah.

The battle for Bougie reaches a decisive point as fresh reinforcements arrive from Algiers. The situation worsens as the Gaddafi forces, although outnumbering them, are in many cases understrength from sustaining several losses, a sacrifice for the creation of a better future, and far beyond their maximum level of elan and organization. They have been fighting for too long without rest.

But from the skies came their salvation.

Six wings of aircrafts together begin a heavy interdiction against the enemy defending forces, which begin to lose ground, as with air support, Gaddafi forces become unstoppable, no matter how tired they are, for they know the glorious Libyan Air Force is on their side, and thus, victory is no doubt, it is a certainty written by Allah through the fate of the world.

GADDAFU AKBAR!

After securing Bougie, however, the glorious army of Gaddafi finds itself too disorganized to pursue further offensives... they must secure what they already liberated from the Amerikwan corporate oil sucking parasites loving puppet government of Algeria. Thus they remain in Bougie to recover, receive some long awaited reinforcements and prepare for the next, final stage of this war.

The wait will probably be long due to the bad infrastructure conditions, but victory is inevitable. The only uncertainty is whether they will manage to annex Algeria before Dubya finishes the businesses in Iraq or not.

But while the army needs to recover, the Air Force can continue slaughtering entire enemy divisions on the move, by themselves. This will severely cull the power of the Algerian army, or force them to remain fully defensive and never move troops around.

Another division trying to bypass the front lines to invade Libya proper is also targeted by the Air Force, which is as effective of a defender as if there were actual troops behind the front lines. Gaddafi will never surrender, never waver, never fail.

A worrisome fact however: Kwanzanian ships are moving through the Mediterranean. This is not a good sign. The time may be short to finish this war. But for now, there is nothing to be done but wait more for the forces to be reorganized, while destroying entire divisions with air power.

Gaddafi managed to save money in spite of all investments in his Swiss numbered bank accounts and enlarging the pool of his manor public works of education, healthcare, sports, parks and social welfare to further the socialist cause of the Third Universal Theory. With this money, maybe now it will be possible to build a mighty enough counter-intelligence agency to finally locate the Kwanzanian spies and stone them to death.

In spite of lacking numbers, aware of how exhausted the Libyan army was, the Algerian government launch a counter-attack to retake Bougie, and in truth, the situation is such that they might succeed. Of course, the Army of Libya was only a fraction of its might. They forgot to bring anti-air brigades with the attackers, and shall pay the price for this mistake.

With air support, the battle of Bougie is once more won. Dear Leader knows how to always win. He also did read "The Art of War" that says that if you know your enemy and yourself, you need not to fear the result of a hundred battles. Never start wars against armies stronger than your own is such a logical idea. Now, Dubya being Dubya, avoiding to let others start war is another matter.

Only in the beginning of June the Libyan offensive was resumed. Instead of a straight attack to Algiers, they would spread out, to attack the Algerian capital from multiple directions, while the air force would wreck their retreating forces. The attack against Blida had a very predictable result.

On its aftermath, another Algerian division was slaughtered, but the Air Force, ordered to be as restless as the man whose mind is only focused on Allah, on the King of Kings and on the Jihad, had suffered some permanent loss in the form of a strike fighter. However, this will never be a problem.

For the Algerian army is being destroyed from the skies. The first battle of this whole war, the battle that determined who would achieve air superiority, was indeed the most decisive one.

By 13th of June of the Great Satan calendar, finally arrives the time to attack Algiers itself. With heavy air support, the wisdom of attacking from multiple directions and numerical superiority, Gaddafi's army has evertything in their favor. The enemy falters, and the war is now going to be over soon.

Algiers is taken! The defenders will be buried in the shallow graves of the craters provoked by the bombs dropped from the powerful Mig-23s while they retreat. Now the final victory draws near, and after this, Libya shall become a medium country, not a small one.

One great step to the dream.

The retreating enemy divisions are slaughtered. The war is already won, all remaining to do is to reach Oran so the annexation can be formalized. With this, much greater step than the conquest of Tunisia, Libya may acquire enough industrial infrastructure to build a strong enough army to no longer fear the Great Satan.

In June 25, 2003, as the Light of Islam and of the Third Universal Theory finally arrive to the city of Oran, corrupted by the West, Algeria falls. While the Kwanzanian manboons are still failing at seizing Iraq, Libya, with a far more technically backwards and limited military force, but with an infinitely superior morale of knowing they are truly the good guys in this, have already liberated two countries much larger and economically prosperous than Iraq. The Third International Theory finally becomes truly International, as now Gaddafi rules the majority of North Africa. To the west lies an even more traitorous and subservient country. Morocco is so much of a traitor to the arab world that they even allow the United States military access. The threat they represent thus is immense, as is the threat of Egypt, but Gaddafi troops are closer to Morocco, and as one has always to start small, it is obvious what must be the next step in the formation of the Great Socialist People's Republic of Africa: Morocco.

Does the mod provide any actual benefit for the Dove Lobby, or are they so retarded that they managed to make the slider even more one-sided? Judging by the immediate events, there is absolutely no positive to it, unless the game shells out free IC and resource base when you're Dove. Though even then, they should have used the offmap money production for Western countries.

IMO doubling manpower growth makes up for the -40% org penalty, specially because default max org values for ground units are much greater here than in vanilla, and for technologically backwards countries, being able to keep up 2 divisions with -40% org each is more worthwile than being able to keep less. Like 200 max org without most doctrines. Refusing the draft pushes the slider several points towards "standing army" but doesn't give any penalty to manpower growth.
