Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
^ totally did not notice that, i thought it's the usual "front line" / "back line" thingy in JRPG, turned out it's not, and i thought it is just affect the aesthethics with the lineup.

the loading screen for me is too fast to notice them advices >_>

BTW, out of frustration with Erik's Half-Inch success rate I gave in and googled how to raise it and I actually managed to (somehow) miss some Robber Gloves in the Cryptic Crypt!!

You can also get some Robber Gloves as a rare drop from the Robber Rabbits but considering I've killed a ton of those Rabbits while doing normal levelling up and never got them... yeah, I think that rare drop % might be kinda low.

...now I have to wait until I get access to Heliodor again so I can go back into the Crypt (that was where Erik's Orb was), as I'm fairly sure just waiting it out until that happens will come sooner than If decide to start killing Rabbits.

Whatever you do DO NOT lower the game resolution, instead lower the SCREEN PERCENTAGE. I already explained why a few posts ago. The three settings that affect performance are:

1. Resolution. Lower your Screen Percentage in the menu.
2. Shadows. Set to 1 in the menu.
3. Draw distance. Edit the Engine.ini file and add the UE4 draw distance cvar and set it to 0.7 (default is 1). Instructions can be found in my earlier posts in this thread.

Boom, frame-rate fixed. Use a combination of the above 3 tweaks until you have the frame-rate you want and can feel good playing it.

Oh, and:
p.jpeg

Thanks pal. I have been reading your posts in this thread but it is nice to have all of the tips together.

I've also installed the game on my HDD instead of solid state drive. The solid state has run out of space. Can anyone who has played further let me know if stuttering can be alleviated by installing on the solid state? So far, loading times have been manageable on the HDD but I normally install games on solid state for that reason.

One thing you can do to free up some space on your SSD is see if any of the games you have on there have a big ole "Movies" type of folder with several gigabytes' worth of in-game cinematics. If you do have one with such a folder, move that folder to somewhere else and create a junction link pointing back to the original game folder where it used to be. A junction link makes the computer think that a folder or file is in one place (where you point the j-link) while you keep the actual data somewhere else.

I did this with the movies folder from Final Fantasy 15, moved it to one of my mechanical HDDs and made a j-link pointing towards where it was in my SSD and did not encounter 1 single problem whatsoever and saved myself almost 20 gigs.

Here are step by steps, and it's really ridiculously easy to do, like really easy: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1327166873

EDIT: Obviously it can be any file or folder doesn't have to be a movie one, I just used that example because it's usually the biggest folder in modern games. In 2nd place would be sound/voice folder(s).

Obvioiusly no point in moving game folders with level data or assets as those are the ones you actually want inside your SSD.

Thievery has always been a joke in DQ games. Drop rates seem higher though. Trying to get common mats from flower mobs, I got 2 fairy fluffs in 5 minutes + 1 steal. Not bad.

Erik has been raping with dual boomerangs and he doesn't even have any boosts. OTOH, he gets a whopping +90 worth of damage boosts to swords, far and away higher than all other characters, plus his True Dual Wield ability would seem to make him an obscene DPS character for endgame. Unless his sword equipment list is really gimped or something.

Main hero has been doing fine with greatswords, kinda boring though. For Jade claws seem to do good damage, but spears boost her kicks more. They have cheap costs and her MP total sucks. 2 MP for a group attack? Seems nice.

Veronica has been carrying my team with her Bang spams. Rab is a backup healer, not very good offensively. He has 1/2 the Magical Might of Veronica so his spells are super weak. If he can't get that up (heh) then he's kinda dead weight.

Sylvando completely replaces Serena with his buffs and healing dances... the only thing Serena brings to the table is elemental protection and the usefulness of that is yet to be determined.

I finally arrived at Gondolia and am relieved I didn't have to change my settings as I had been reading on forums that Gondolia/Swamp was raping people's framerates but apparently I'm good for now. Also man, this game is fucking pretty. Really good use of color and contrast.

It's much prettier than FF15 and made with the same tech and uses much less complicated geometry and much lower res textures which goes to show how important art design is.

It triggered me something fierce that 90% of the steam discussions are complaining about the VA in some way, asking for the "true dub" i.e. the non-existent jap one.

Sylvando completely replaces Serena

Early hustle dance is super useful, but without Omniheal, fullheal, or Kazing he can't replace her. Sylvando has the 'neither fish nor foul' problem of not filling niches as well as anyone else. If there is a Sage's Stone in the game, he becomes worthless.

asking for the "true dub"

lol, just turn off the sound mfers

It is far too early for me to give impressions - I'm only an hour in, and some of that was spent idling. I still haven't left the first village. Still, the music is atrocious, as I feared. I'm keeping it on for now in case it improves, but if it doesn't I'll mute the music volume and play other soundtracks.

Performance is a bit juddery, but my system is ancient. Intel Core 2 Quad 9660, GeForce 960. Some games refuse to run at all (Quantum Break, Assassin's Creed Origins), some run beautifully (mostly PS3-era games like Trails of Cold Steel, Valkyria Chronicles), others will run with some special configuration on my part to not make it a slog (Rise of the Tomb Raider, Witcher 3 etc).

There's no difference in performance whether I use 3x AA or 6xAA so I'm keeping it at 6xAA. Other settings - shadow res medium, all others at max, 1920x1080 res. FPS varies somewhere between 30 and 60 FPS, it is the variability which is causing the problems, very noticeable when the FPS dips. I could lock to 30 but I think it looks worse. I'm assuming that when I hit a city or a large open area the FPS will really tank. At that point I might just put the game on the back burner until I get a new PC. I'm not planning on doing that until Cyberpunk is released.

I don't know about the tweaks that were mentioned but I have a similar set up and the first castle you go to will be nigh unplayable. I'm in the middle of building an i7 8700k with a 1080 so I'm holding off until then.

I'm finding the maps to be way too linear, but on the other hand they, and the enemy designs keep surprising me by how beautiful they are.

The game truly is a graphical masterpiece.

The un-open nature of the maps would be more bothersome to me if I didn't end up finding quite a bit to explore in all of them, from cleverly hidden entrances, hidden chests and items, crossbow targets, to points accessible only when mounting a particular monster in the area. It's going to be real fun when we can start opening up red doors and other locked areas. Exploring in this game in the 42 hours I've played has been nothing but fun for me so far, both in cities and on the way between them.

I wish swapping party members in combat were as quick as in Final Faggetry X. It's so slow I rarely bother.

Now I just change party members to see all three way peps.

I know what you mean. I find it comes in handy more commonly during particularly difficult boss battles. I'm guessing they designed it this way purposely. The time it takes, plus the possibility of losing a turn in the initiative makes it a little risky, but sometimes can turn the tides of a battle.

I also use it to store up Peps for said boss battles. Your party members will maintain their pep until the next time they are put in the combat line-up.

She can also 3 way pep with hero and erik to put erik into beast mode (all stats up + 2 actions per turn).

I'm really enjoying this game but I almost wish random encounters were back or that the creatures on the overworld were a little more aggressive a la Persona. While I do enjoy being able to hunt certain monsters at a whim, nearly every encounter pretty much feels voluntary and I've been able to pretty much run to the end of every dungeon unmolested so far.

I really think they could have simply addressed this with one more Draconian Quest, where monsters were aggro'd from further away and charged players much faster. Seems like something that could fairly easily be added by a mod, but I do wish it was an option upon release.

Considering the state of the modern JRPG in terms of difficulty it's kind of amazing this got what it did.

iirc from the upgrade screen the gloves gives +2% steel rate and gain +1% per rank, so +5% at +3

Spent the evening earning 25k tokens at the casino playing Slime Quest slots. What happens if you get all the orbs for a machine? I didn't have the patience right now.

Considering you need 250k to get all the good stuff this could be awhile, unless I start getting super lucky at double-or-nothing. Probably wait for roulette to be available before I play any more.
