According to Pitchford, Gearbox began finishing “Duke Nukem Forever” in late 2009. “Clearly the game hadn’t been finished at 3D Realms but a lot of content had been created,” he says. “The approach and investment and process at 3d Realms didn’t quite make it and it cracked at the end. With Gearbox Software we brought all those pieces together. It’s the game it was meant to be.”

The "official" announcement is expected to be released later today at PAX.

Alas poor "in before Duke Nukem", we knew him well..

Edit: MOAR news as it comes in.

ALWAYS BET ON DUKE

Hm but I wonder how different will be the final version by GearBox from the videos we could see on YT and such.

I'll believe it when I see it. Or more to the point when I hold the box in one hand while I'm playing with the other (and fapping with the third).

Now if what they're saying is true and all they really did was take all the stuff from the 3D Realms and finished it... then I'm really looking forward to it. The gameplay video that surfaced around the time the company imploded looked awesome. However this is DNF we're talking about so I'll maintain a sceptic face until it actually gets released.

I've been watching the live stream, regenerating health is on, it's a console port, not a single keyboard in that room, etc etc.

Have fun guys.

Not that I've seen. I'd think it's possible though, after all the console rape inflicted to the game.

Is it constantly regenerating, or is it restored a bit after each kill, the way it worked in Manhattan Project?

I don't know. Since the camera man had ADHD, he kept moving the fuck around, and I couldn't see more than a few seconds of each player's screen.

The stream itself was absolutely terrible, sound kept failing, and the camera man just has to be fired.

It was really hard to tell due to the shit cameraman (stopped watching after a while), and I didn't play MP but yeah I don't think it was a constant health boost like in most FPS games these days.

I know, but I could make out very little from the videos.

Man, I'm actually excited! Maybe I'm setting myself up for disappointment here, but I really wanted a new Duke Nukem game.

I, too, wanted more shitty console games.

It's a bliss.

Looks like a pretty standard current generation console shooter. So much for that.

I hope Duke likes it up the ass.
