So, Dead Rising 2 is abandoning it's twack-ye-mole by not being console-exclusive.

Now, what little I've seen of the gameplay tells me that it's indeed a herp derp game meant for those who wants to just have some mindless fun for a bit, and I suppose that's fine if you just want to play a campy, and very stereotypical, Army of Darkness-type zombie action game, but I would like to hear what the rest of you lot think about this game.

(Ps. Yes, I am aware that I posted this right after holding a big speech on how games must be an experience to be worth wasting time on... Surely you are a very perceptive individual and I'm sure you'll find your middle-aged guy father some day.)

Japan cannot into westernized games.

That is all I can say on this subject.

New one is being made by Canadians, isn't it? Not sure if :incline: or :decline:

The first one was mindless fun until it melted my Xbawks.

Plopping on a moose head and charging a horde of zombies looks

Dead Rising 1 was fucking awesome. I don't care what anyone says.

DR2 is one of the few upcoming released I'm genuinely interested in, though now that it isn't 360-exclusive, I imagine it'll probably be easier and dumbed down for the PC crowd. :smug:

I liked the mall environment more than Las Vegas like casino or whatever.

Yes, the motorcycle with the chainsaws attached should tell you it's just a zombie genocide simulator, i.e., heavan.

I wouldn't worry, since I can't even imagine how much of a pretentious faggot one must be to not consider simple fun as an experience worth wasting time on, specially with a game.

True enough. Sometimes games are good for simply blowing off steam, and Dead Rising 2 seems to be a perfect game for that kind of thing, just like Prototype was.

The original was a hardcore game for hard men, and the sequel apparently follows that almost exactly. You shouldn't expect a free running silly open world zombie smashing game, the game has an always-running clock and if you don't get to missions or critical locations in time you can be fucked and/or miss out on quests. CHOICES AND CONSEQUENCES, REAL TIME EDITION. Also has multiple endings depending on what you do.

Oh yeah, and I forgot to mention, no checkpoints and no save anywhere, you have to get to save locations. And in the original you had 1 save slot and if you saved in a position where you couldn't make it to a quest in time then welp you better restart the game buddy. Sequel apparently gives you 3 save slots to help alleviate that.

No cover system.

Choice and consequence.

A hard timer which forces you to make tough choices.

Multiple endings.

Yeah, it's so popamole that it's not even popamole.

Played the demo a bit, it's more forgiving with three save slots and smatterings of save locations. Lawn darts are awesome, the combo weapons are lol wut, controls are a bit better than the awful mess the first games were.

Capcom + PC is never a good sign. Be warned.
They've upped their game since R4E and DMC3 and other abominationable ports, see DMC4 and RE5.

I'm not sure about DMC3 but they didn't even make RE4 PC port, that was Ubisoft's "work". And their recent ports have been great.

How about the survivors? Sounds like survivors have improved AI which is great. I'm amazed they didn't remove the cool hardcore parts of the game that make it tense (No checkpoints, time limit) and seemingly improved the things that were just straight broken (Controls, survivor AI). HOW DOES THAT HAPPEN, GAME DEVELOPERS ARE SUPPOSED TO BE TERRIBLE.

Still undecided on if I wanna buy Case Zero for $5 or not. Particularly since I'm not sure if I'm gonna pick Dead Rising 2 up on 360 or PC. If the PC port is good (Which Capcom's recent PC port history seems to indicate is likely) then it's $40 on Steam as opposed to $60 for 360. 360 version would let me carry over Case Zero shit if I do get it. Since PC version is GFWL maybe that would too but I doubt it.
