Match 16!
An exhibition match, as said, we're just playing for the honours. I believe the playoff system in BB is the standard, #1 from group 1 against #2 from group 2 and #2 from group 1 against #1 from group 2, but I'm not sure. Regardless, it doesn't really matter.
The Elves get 500k in inducements (nice, guys) and hire Jordell Freshbreeze, legendary elf player, as well as buying an extra reroll. I'm receiving.
This is their <s>ent</s>, sorry, "Treeman", a hulk of a big 'un. With strength 6, armor value 10, mighty blow, stand firm and thick skill, this guy is a tank, and easily the most powerful base player in the game.
His biggest (only?) weakness is take root, rendering him immobile after a while. He can still fight, but can't walk.
The legend. A stack of dodge, avoid and catch skills to go with an agility score of 5 quickly indicate his value to the team.
Correction. The value he might have had to the team, if Vortexx hadn't just knocked him out of the game.
Silellak has the ball and moves behind the line of scrimmage. With some assistance, Jim managed to bring the <s>ent</s>sorry "treeman", so they're down their most dangerous players. The Slaanesh Seaskuas seem to specialize in this kind of early "taking out the worst"-slaughter.
Derp-de-derp, Shuma died again. Brought him back to life, and no permanent injuries. Lucking out there, you potential euthanasia candidate you.
We have most elves down as Mantiis stuns another one.
But they show effective blitz, Silellak is knocked down and the ball bounces into Ogg Jr's hands.
Darrrr! Don't try to dodge me, you fool.
Mantiis clears a path. Considering the effective blitz the elves are putting on, I'm going to cut this party short.
TD for OJ part the second!
By this point they've got 3 players in the injury ward and one KOd, but with three turns they still have a good shot at scoring.
Unless their first dodge attempt fails.
Trying to blitz their passer.
We fail! Luckily, so does his pass. Phew, got out by an inch on that one.
Half-Time!
Another player joins the ranks of the KOd, so they're fielding only 8. Easy-peasy.
Got their baller trying to make a play for the endzone here. I blitzed in HanoverF but he fails to down the elf, who then flees back into his own half.
OldSkoolKamikaze finally brings him down.
Hurray for NiM the bloodthirsty!
And you don't see this every day. Rabidredneck manages to injure their Treeman. They apparently saved up their apothecary for this occasion, and bring him back for the next possession. Fat lot of good that's going to do them. Guys, it's turn 12 and you don't have the ball. Maybe you should have used the apothecary on your hero in turn 1, huh?
By this point injuries and KOs have seemingly become so common-place that the game stops replaying them every time. 'k?
A short tussle for the ball follows, and it's knocked out of the pitch. OH NO!
Oh, cool.
Silellak picks it up, and this lone elf here makes a hilarious desperate blitzing attempt on his own, with two red dice on his side. He rolls up an attacker down and defender stumbles, so that's it for that blitz attempt.
Two turns later Silellak punches it in, and proceeds to imitate a bird...hurray?
And that's it, I kick off to 8 players next turn, and nothing exciting happens in the last turns of the match.
Bastards moved me up another tax bracket. Paying 20k a match now.
6 KOs and 4 casualties is a-ok by me.
Vortexx becomes level 4, having been named MVP for taking out their star player in his first move of the match, and becomes our first mega-kamehameha level 4 WARRIAH!
Disgusting! Dude grew another arm. By now, my regular tactic is to leave Biz off the pitch when kicking off (which is why he's not playing much lately, should give him more time), while Vortexx as the kicker has to be on the pitch for kickoffs. The extra arm allows him not only to make pickups and catches more easily, but also to attempt interceptions more effectively if needed.
And still not a single stat-up. I've had 22 level-ups. In that time I've rolled a double only three times, and never a stat bonus. If I'm not mistaken, the chance to get a stat bonus boils down to one in 6, so statistically I should have three by now. I have zero. ZERO...
...
...
What the fuck is this for a shit?
Seriously, what are the odds of me never rolling a stat bonus? The dice, they are raping me!
Anyway, in the other group, the humans and orcs are kicked out. That's both sad (orcs would be a new race to play against) and good (I fucking hate playing orcs). The dwarves are taking on the wood elves in one semi-final, and we're up against the Skavenblight Scramblers!
And Scramblers they are; no ogre on their roster, but 3 3+ level gutter runner, with an odd skillset one 'em (one seems to be made to fight (block, horns, stripp ball), one to leap (leap, +1 AV) and one to, errr, annoy you (+1 MA, disturbing presence)). Bought yet another reroll (I do so love rerolls, and fully plan to max out on 'em) so expect another big fat whallop of inducement for the coming match.
