Silver Style Entertainment, who still have yet to release an English version of The Fall, announced that they'll be taking on the Das Schwarze Auge universe (Realms of Arkania, Drakensang) with The Dark Eye: Demonicon.

Demonicon is an action based PC-and Next-Generation-Console role playing game which reverts to former rules and gaming environment of "The Dark Eye". The epically and Movie-like story along with the in detail elaborated characters and exciting quests is a successful result of TGC's internal Silver Style Entertainment Studio.

rough translation by me of their Q&A posted on the forums:

...

During the GC 2008 there were rumours that Demonicon will be a Hack n Slash game, is that true ?

No. Demonicon definitely wont be a hack n slash game. We are developing an action-oriented RPG, with “RPG” being the mainfocus and “action-oriented” just describing the fights.

Will Demonicion be more like Diablo or Neverwinter Nights ?
The feeling will be a lot more like Neverwinter Nights.

Will there be party-management in demonicon ?
Of course the player will have companions but independent of that party-management isn’t mandatory for the DSA setting. The PnP solo-adventurers are well known to any DSA fan. Naturally we think its very important that the player has believable companions on his side, which have depth and will be well-embedded in the story.

Does Demonicon feature a multiplayer-mode ?
Certainly. And it will be a big one. More details about the MP will be revealed sometime in the future.

With diablo 3 and sacred as strong competition, can you keep up ?
We don’t see our main competition in D3 or Sacred 2. Both are great games but they have a different focus. We want to portray the world of Aventuria as good as possible, design intelligent quests and characters with depth. The action-rich fights are also important to us and will be a lot of fun but content-wise they ll have a lot less influence in our game than in the diablo-series.

What about character-creation in your game ?
We will take a different route than Drakensang did. The player will have a lot more options – just like in PnP.

What about the story ?
It will be epic and immerse the player completely in the world of aventurien. Fans will be able to explore territories that normally aren’t the big focus .

What kind of engine will be used ?
A completely new engine which will put the detail of the landscapes and characters, the lighting, the effects and animations on a new level. In all areas we want to provide the player with more than he s currently used to.

When will the game be released ?
No date yet. Quality is most important to us so players can dive into that world which many of us know and love since many years.

....

Awesome graphics, multiplayer and epic immersion. Who d have thought that….

Riiight. Because we all know how Neverwinter Nights was huge on the consoles, with its great console controls and console-oriented gameplay.

Because that license belongs to Radon Labs. TGC simply is not allowed to do another Drakensang-like game. TDE license is not hold by a single game company like D&D by Atari. Result is, that Radon Labs / dtp will do another party-CRPG (Drakensang 2) and Silver Style / TGC will do this single-hero-CRPG.

our game won't be like a hack'n slash, but if we had to compare it to one truly awesome and another at best mediocre hack'n slash game, we'd totally pick the sucky and bland one.

There are way more things to do in Neverwinter Nights then hack and slash. Even in the main campaign of NWN2 you can solve several quests with diplomacy/bluff/inimidate, as well as use stealth/sneaking solutions. And thats not even mentioning the mods many of the best which are based on variety of gameplay and solutions.

HAHAHAHAHA. Carsten "asshole" Strehse and Silver Style at it again. A shame for all fellow Berliners, that the only noteable game developers we have are such losers.

nwn's peaceful quest resolution: beat something up until it gives up, then chose the option not to kill it.
yeah, totally not a hns.

'cept when people want to compare stuff to nwn2 they usually say nwn2 not nwn which, although depending on regional customs, tends to mean nwn. especially with most nwntards thinking that nwn1 is superior to 2.
