[ Announcement ]

Black Sea Studios, the folks behind Knights of Honor, have a new sci-fi RTS in the works called WorldShift. Get the details from Hooked Gamers' preview.

Instead of the technology trees, WorldShift is centered around the idea of thousands of items and powerful relics that the players can acquire and then use to change their gameplay and tactics in order to surprise their foes. The items are gained in battles against opponents or as rewards for special missions. But in order to get their hands on the ancient relics, the player will need to ally with their most trusted friends and embark on missions that challenge them to the very edge of their abilities.
Also, check out some early screens (with units that look vaguely Dawn of Warish).

Quite a move from their previous title. KoH was okay and had some interesting parts but was flawed enough to put me off it. This certainly looks pretty enough, though KoH had some nice art too. They claim it is a "next-gen RTS" on their site. Another horribly overused term. There must be a lot of inbreeding or something as all these next generations often seem to look and feel very similar to each other.

Still, they've got me and no doubt others interested and that is always a win for them. Maybe they'll manage to live up to some of their claims and hype.

Knights of Honor was nice, but this game is idd a completely other direction. Hopefully it doesn't turn out like something as ParaWorld.
