What would you think if Larian makes Arcanum 2 next?

Oh, and the final conclusion? Muh morally gray super-sekrit villain who wants to DESTROY ALL LIFE IN THE WORLD coz muh suffering or something.
First you claim the game is too much of modernity, and now you complain that the big bad is a necromancer that came to the most radical anti-materialist conclusion after visiting all stages of the afterlife and finding tranquility only in a final death? Something that would be so sympathetic to both the Desert Fathers, and even Orthodox Christians today, Death to the World, that it became a source of heresy, with the Cathars and many others.

It absolutely wouldn't. Orthodoxy is vehemently opposed to anti-natalism and hatred of the physical body. You're confusing it with gnosticism. Which has a great deal to do with modernity.

Larian is the last developer you would want to make an Arcanum 2. They have already proven to be absolute failures when writing characters for non-human races and Arcanum very much depends on the characterization of the races within the world. Hell, they even failed to put Gnomes in BG3. The best they could do is write short humans who are pretending to be halflings LARPing as Gnomes (and failing since there's not a single turnip plantation in the game) as well as having all the races present in the game being just retextures of humans. Just imagine the abomination it would be. Tarant would be full of all sorts of races, yet they'd all just be poorly written humans at different heights. They'd even have Dark Elves living with everyone else in Tarant and they'd act exactly like everyone else. They'd likely not even realize the half-ogres are the dumb yet useful and loyal bodyguards to the ingenious Gnomes and would fail to write them as so.

Let's face it. All of Larian's games have been sarcastic parodies of crpgs. Not because they wanted to make parodies but because they couldn't do anything else. Not only is this the wrong genre for them, Arcanum would absolutely be the wrong game for them. It's probably the wrong game for all modern developers that could get a license from Activision. I doubt that even if Troika were to get back together, even they wouldn't be able to pull off a true Arcanum 2.

Oh no, they would realize exactly what the horrific gnome subplot (that goes nowhere, thanks, Troika) was about, and make sure to either ignore its existence, or completely invert it.

You're giving Larian too much credit there.

Arcanum 2 will never happen (and that's a good thing!)
