Watched the cave demonstation video, damn that looks amazing. Especially in comparison to most cave maps you find in games. Just another modder outdoing the big boys.

S'rsly though, does anyone with some insight into how the AAA industry know why a dev. like Bethesda would not use a better engine like this one? Is it really because of the legacy code from older games? Maybe this engine can't do something that fits the specific needs of a sandbox RPG? I'm not saying Source is necessarily the perfect engine or anything, but from what I've seen of the Beth sandbox games since morrowind, the engine sucks compared to this in terms of effects, human face modeling, max number of models, etc. etc...

MISPLACED RAGE

I feel the rage was entirely warranted. Jaesun's elitist, oldfag attitude obviously doesn't extend beyond the superficial to the substantive. I feel that this must be highlighted often.

Also, this is the Codex, there can be no misplaced rage here.

Hes a foreigner though, so it's understandable that his grasp of English poetry might be limited.

His grasp of potato shizer porn on the other hand is likely rather comprehensive.

Well at this stage it'd be too much work/money to make a switch. I'm not sure exactly how Valve licenses their engine, but I do believe there are royalties involved(but don't quote me on that). Bethesda already has a good enough engine to do with it what they need it for.

I am definitely willing to wait for this until someone decides it's important to code something worthwhile, like a good dungeon crawl game.

As far as Source, mixed feelings. Good for enclosed, indoor environments. Very useful if you are going to code LOTS of polygons into a small, mathematical engine. Good at out-sourcing itself...

However, load times are too small. Futile, when you're trying to build an open-ended RPG...

Would much prefer someone figured out latest Crysis engine would make a decent uber-RPG, without the badassness of recent Moronware... If I mentioned Dragon Age 2, will anyone be surprised?
