The trick is to convince everyone that you came wasted from another party and had the time of your life and then leave early, under the pretense of going to another party because the party you actually came to is dead.
If there are any hot girls, you can ask her or them to tag along and if they do, you can actually have fun somewhere else and reboot the mood and completely negate being late to the party and if there's only one girl tagging along, you can pull a "ouh, I'm so wasted, I think I'll just go home. Would you like to come?".
And that works... when you are actually coming from another party and actually have a third one yet to go. But I guess if you are really good at acting, you can make it happen regardless.
