Fucking yeah. RotK8 is my fave game in the series. I used to play this a lot with my brother on "hot-seat" mode, me on a civil career and he on a militar one. Good times.

Hey Sinilevä , take a look at this. It's the "role-playing" one I talked about in the other thread, similar to CK.

"Heated battles at a faster pace!" Bah. Don't know why they would remake it anyway (apart from it being a cheap cash grab). New titles could just gravitate closer towards specific older titles if the systems were that good. (I only played XI and 12 back in the day, so my reference points are pretty limited.)

I never played these games for the battles, but agree that's a worrisome line. That and the overly animesque visuals and portraits (the original was more grounded).

Also, the remake makes sense for fans of officer-based entries as RotK 8 is considered one of the best in this niche, and for some reason the rom is broken on all PS2 emulators (it scrambles the color of menus making it unplayable).

Hm, yeah, they seem to have "modernized" it. The bit of the battle they showed is definitely closer to 12 than VIII which I've just taken a look at. As for the visuals/portraits...I would say it's more in line with what they went later in the 00s. They already had that style in 12 and I would say it was probably Dynasty Warriors which put them on that path. I played 4, 6 and 8 and 4 already went into that direction and it released in 2003. 6 came out in 2007 and was a lot more stylized, to the point where it's still really similar to how it is now (and also in the teaser). I don't know about it being more "grounded" but I definitely know what you mean. It's more "muted", one could also say.
