Matt Brown has emailed me word about his project, Project Salus, which is a cross between a simulation and a role-playing game set inside a fallout shelter where you take on the role of the leader of the silo. Pretty slick concept, eh? Well, I think so, he thinks so, and hopefully the Independent Games Festival thinks so as well, since it's in the 2004 contest. Here's some screenshots to peek more interest:

Oh, and here's some info:

Project Salus is a role-playing game born from a simulation. It provides opportunities for the player to take on the role of a fallout shelter manager through the simulation, to provide a more expansive and diverse role-playing experience.

While most RPG's focus on the fighting aspects of their roles, we are trying to push the boundaries of role-playing in the opposite direction by stretching the non-combat aspects of role-playing. That isn't to say you can't play the game like you're Rambo, shooting everything in sight, but we want to provide the opportunity to play the game however you want.

Looks pretty good, I'm going to have to keep my eye on this one.
