About MetalMercs

Real-Time Tactical Mech Combat

In Metal Mercs, you're not just a spectator; you're the commander. You'll take control of powerful mechs, each equipped with its own arsenal of devastating weapons and unique abilities. Engage in intense battles where split-second decisions can mean the difference between victory and defeat. Master the art of mech combat, utilizing terrain, tactics, and superior firepower to outmaneuver and outgun your opponents.

The Life of a Mercenary Commander

As a mercenary commander, you'll face challenges beyond the battlefield. Negotiate contracts with various factions, managing your outfit's finances to stay afloat and expand your operation. Between battles, your mechs will require repairs, your crew will need recruitment and training, and your outfit will depend on your strategic decisions to thrive.

Explore the Core

The Core is a vast, dynamic region of space, and you'll have the opportunity to traverse its many worlds and stations. Whether you're taking on contracts, engaging in diplomacy, or uncovering hidden secrets, your journey across the Core will be an adventure in itself.

Didn't this start as Crescent Hawk remake?
Sort of. It used Crescent Hawk assets to make a modern game. The gameplay was only "inspired' by Crescent Hawk. The dude making this had a massive meltdown on Twitter over some leftist political BS to do with Elon Musk and whined he was wasn't making any money from the game. So he tantrumed and fucked off for months before coming back, telling BT fans to fuck off because he's making an OC donut steel game with badly generated AI images now.

I liked Battlemercs way better than this. I have no interest in a bland Battletech rip off.

More Progress!

Just another sneak peek. This map was randomly produced by the new map generation code. The map generator can now integrated terrain, paths, rivers, roads, and cities! More work is still needed on placing spawn points, objectives, and other elements but as far as the maps themselves, they're starting to come together!

The master system called.

It wants it's graphics back.

The title sounded cool, but the art is so bad and clashes so hard with the AI stuff it hurts. At least aim for SNES or Amiga

I'm going to go against the grain and say it looks nice. Could use some more animation, since I think there's something like three frames of animation there for each mech. For a low-palette look it's fairly good, you don't need to spend as much time on them as you would for Amiga or VGA graphics. Considering what this is, I'm glad they're focusing on gameplay over graphics.

Though that said, it's strange that they're using AI art in their video thumbnails, I'm sure that disappointed some people.

Behind you.
New trailer.
Doesn't look bad. Well, I could do without the real time combat there, since I think that's probably a great way to lose some mechs or valuable parts before you realize it's happening. Salvage, galactic map, and so on all looks good to me. Also, the fact it's on itch.io is nice as well.

I actually had the Crescent Hawk LAM miniature back in the day. If you beat the first game, you were rewarded with a code and you could get an exclusive LAM miniature via mail order with that code. I think it just cost the shipping.
