I could try to, but at the end of the day he could kill my character in 2-4 hits. I think one time I managed to kill his first incarnation as my first character, by using a ton of mines (cheap I know) and every booster item I had in inventory. I could try to run away and hit the pods, but sooner or later he'd catch up and I'd have to fight him again. LIke I said, after failing this I build a quintessential Munckin and beat him no problem.

...and you're ramping up on force defensive powers on top of the booster items? He was hard but that sucks to be all the way to the end of the game to be stopped dead...literally.

Screw it...go get KotoR2 :D

I'll only get KotOR II over my dead body, or $30. Thats what I'm holding out for. Meanwhile, I'm replaying games like Fallout, Arcanum, and Deus Ex.

You were a counsular? Did you by any chance have the "drain life" power? You may have already known this, but if you do not, then you could use that power to drain the life of the pods for yourself.

Nope, I was a goody two-shoes disciple of the light side. I'd hate to think I picked one of the few character builds that made the game unbeatable, but I found that for what I did, Malak was impossible to beat.

both kotor's had it so picking anything less then two lightsabers was just poor.

Espcially in the second one, where you could get some impressive crystals that pumped your stats up aplenty.

My 2nd char had absolutely no fighting skills other then the starting ones, and was the force user thingo. He dual wielded anyway, just for the massive stat increases for each lightsaber that would have been impossible to get out of any other weapon.

Would have been nice if the stave saber did anything worthwhile, or even allowed you to have the same crystal slots as two single sabers.

False. Bullshit. crap. In both KOTORs; I played witha single sabre and I kicked ass easy. Easy.

And, oh, anyone who has trouble with combat in KOTOR (I'm looking at the fool who does) sucks at games and should think aout early retirement. Period.

Idiot, ignoramus, jackass. In both Kotor's, you could beat the game without using ANY weapon EVER! Point is, you can't achieve the same bonuses to non weapon stats, like wis and cha, by using half the crystal slots, or none at all.

Yup, thats right. Then again, the idea is that the majority of players are going to want to use a lightsaber.

No but you're right Quigs, though I dont think it was a failing or oversight by the developers.

No, Combat was relatively easy until they took away my party. Before I used Zalabar or Juhani as the dual weilding melee specialist, and varied the third member depending on the situation (or just who needed experience). Then all I was left for Malak was a low HP rogue with a ton of support force powers, which Malak was immune to. It was the game's short sighted design that ruled out the faint possibility that somebody who played might actually not be a munchkin.

^^^I dont know if it has a lot to do with being a munchkin, i played as a sentinel, wgich is a good all rounder, yet i have absolutely no doubt i would have been fucked if it wasnt for the ridiculous amount of medpacks i had, and thats what made the game so easy IMHO, the abundance of medpacks.

All i needed to do was hit Malak a couple of times, use a medpack, hit him a couple of times more, use a medpack and so on, then when he ran off to heal all i would do was throw my lightsaber at him after he drained jedi, that ensured that he quickly ran out of jedi and from then on it was piece of cake, i think i died once in the main battle when i was talking to someone that had just walked in and i forgot to use a medpack.

And i didnt even stock up, i went into the starforge with a only a few medpacks that i had bought on Kashyyk, most of the rest i had found on the planet or on the starforge itself.

So i dont really see how you could find the main battle difficult, unless you had used up all of your medpacks on the way there.(or you played on hard of course.)

GA, wrong. Malak was well banaced for one on one battle. Afterall, he wans't playtested against a full party; but against one PC (I'd presume so, anyways). You just suck. Blame yourself; not the game. Moronic fools who try to blame games for their suckiness.

Logic dictates that Malak is not too powerful for any player of at least an IQ of 10.

Mira kicking Hanharr's ass on Malachor was quite the battle. I just kept using adhesive grenades, rocketing him three times, repeat until I ran out of adhesive grenades (which was quickly). Then I used thermal detonators which have a killer knock-down. After I was out of those, I had to go melee with his ass and even though he only had a slight fraction of his health at that point, he still almost killed me first. That was one tough motherfuckin' wookie. Would have loved to pit my Handmaiden against his ass. She was a tank and a half even before she became a Guardian.

And yeah, the ending was weak. I never got any follow through on the relationships I was apparently building with Visas and Handmaiden. Also never found out what was up with Bao-Dur after Dxun even though I had a ton of influence...
