What exactly made Heroes 4 so bad? There are some mistakes I can see but those are mostly stuff that does not really affect the gameplay (except the marketplace maybe) while the changes done to the mechanics, the system and so on are all not bad at the worst and good at the best, I think.

HoMM4 managed to even fuck up its 2d graphics.

If Heroes 4 looks bad, Heroes 5 looks horrible.

the AI in 5 was really a disappointment. Although it wasn't as bad as 4, which was a real joke.

The AI in 4 isn't much different than the one in 3. 1 & 2 didn't have much of an AI.

HoMM4's AI is severely sub-par unless you play it with the latest expansion pack. Even then, both HoMM2 and 3 put more of a challenge.

My personal favorite in the series is 3, and I really liked the Heroes Chronicles campaigns. I thought those had really good writing.

And HoMM 5 actually looks pretty damn good at times. The cities, for instance. The second one looks the best overall, though. I love pixel art.
