In the first 24 hours that Halo: Reach has been available, it has pulled in more than $200 million in sales in the US and Europe, making it the fastest-selling game Microsoft has ever released.

"Every major installment has grown in scope and popularity, firmly cementing the 'Halo' franchise as one of the most popular entertainment properties in the world over the past decade," Microsoft Game Studios' corporate vice president Phil Spencer said in a statement Wednesday evening.

Holy shit!!!!

So the stores ordered just over 3.3 million copies?

Not impressive at all actually. The latest Pokemon game got over 1 million preorders in Japan only.

So it would seem that Halo is 50 times as popular as MW2? Smells like BS.

No, it did sold 4.7 mln copies. 4.7 mln$ would be below 100k copies sold.

"Modern Warfare 2 sold approximately 4.7 million units in both the United States and the UK in the first 24 hours of its release. the total revenue from first day sales in the U.S. and the UK was $310 million",

NPD will not track day 1 sales as its does monthly sales figures.

Halo 3 sold $170 million in the U.S day 1, Halo: Reach reaching $200 million in NA and Europe on day one is hardly much of achievement in light of Halo 3 sales.

Ah well, it could be worse I suppose. We could have companies dumbing down games to insert more shooter elements.
