Xenogears: Chu-Chu vs. Achtzen. First appearance of my favortie music in that game too.

Xenosaga 2: Facing the batshit insane Albedo at the end of the first disc. His reaction to having one of his arms blown off during the fight? "YES! MORE!! HAHA!!"

Chu-chu is the most epic small furry creature imaginable. The music suits it well.

On that note, my favourite battle is the final fight in FF6. Puts every other fight I've ever had to shame. It's so badass it bumps up your allowed party from 4 to 16 just for that fight. A pity the game has no difficulty once you know where all the cheese is kept. FF4 and FF5 were much better in that regard.

Hmmmm, I'm going to change my mind and say my favourite fight was in Star Ocean on the psx actually. I had a blast on the later bosses and the postgame bosses. Actual panicked healing/reviving/attacking/buffing/fleeing in terror to be had.

Crpg fights tend to suck and be mostly based on stupid gimmicks. MM3-5 were fun to play through, but only because of the stat whoring and cool exploration. The fights were basically just me melee attacking over and over, or casting implosion a few times. Even the megadragon was a joke once I realized the Xeen sword was actually another dragon slayer.

lately ive been enjoying an evil solo run through fallout 2, and the bounty hunter encounters suck ass - have to juice up and then run like fuck all for the exit grid, which is only so much help because the enemies spawn blocking all the exits. traveling across the desert has never been so fraught with peril. i think i need to turn down the encounter rate, it's getting ridiculous.

Oblivion(oh noes!) with OOO mod. I was exploring some Ayleid ruins where there were very powerful vampires in one area and very powerful liches in another. So rather than fight all of them I figured it'd be easier to piss off the vampires and lead them over to the liches. Used my higher agility to hop up onto a ledge and spent the next ten minutes watching them tear eachother apart.

All the boss fights are splendid in this one, basically coming at points where you think you're at the peak of your power (and then crushing your bones).

Dark Sun 1 had also quite memorable battle at the end.
