BTW, battles play nicely on my Athlon 3500+, 1 GB of RAM and a 6600GT. After I turned off the shadows, which had given me strange rendering errors. The loading times are a bitch and the World Domination plays horribly sluggishly - come on, how hard is it to properly animate an incomplex globe?
So, while it's badly coded (I think), I (and, um, my Granny Eugenia who spent much time with the game) say it's worth a try, the skirmish battles are quite fun!
