Yes, definitely wait. Some things are still broken, the game lags, I've had some CTDs already... in its current state, I won't buy it. Once patched properly, though, I will consider it, because so far it's much more fun than GalCiv ever was.

Graphics are good, cause they have that timeless quality that doesn't age, like HOMM3. It will still look good years down the line when it's fully patched up.

Wait for a gold edition eventually. I'm sure you can find something to tide you over.

I enjoyed Gal Civ, but as for Jarl, I'm digging this far more even in it's shitty state, so just pirate it and see how you go.

Having read some reviews, the general opinion seems to be that there are some very good ideas, a horrible GUI, stupid AI, no multiplayer yet (is planned), love-it-or-hate-it graphics, possibly the "just one more turn"-effect and no tutorial and generally hard to get into. Oh, and loads of bugs.

Honestly, it only *seems* to get hard into the first 20 minutes. Then you suddenly start to realize that it really is much simpler than you thought. Once you get over that second shock, you start to appreciate what the idea was supposed to be. Let's hope it moves from supposed to happened.

play Fall from Heaven 2 instead of Elemental. granted, being based on civ 4 it lacks a tactical combat mode, but as far as i know Elementals tactical combat mode is currently (even ignoring bugs) a sad joke anyhow.

otherwise its more than worthy to be played and enjoyed by MoM fans and unlike elemental offers tons of interesting races/civilizations to play as.

mind you it wont hurt to keep an eye on elemental and see if they can fix this mess but imho its not just the bugs/lack of polish but things like shitty combat system / shitty magic / lack of interesting races .... stuff that probably only an expansion COULD fix.

by the time you re bored with FFH2 and submods ( i.e. in 2 years+) elemental should be either fixed or the game that the FFH2 makers are working on might be out.

there s also AOW: Shadow Magic as a MoM alternative but i personally prefer FFH2 over that.
