Co-op turn based historical wargame recommendations?

I like turn based wargames and playing live co-op games. Age of Wonders games and Warhammer Gladius are perfect for this. Unfortunately my gamer friend loses interest in anything that is not historical. When we tried Gladius his remark was "I wish there was something like this that was historical." To me a tank is a tank but for him if it says "Panzer III" it's a much better game than if it says "Skorpius Disintegrator."

Is there anything like Gladius or AOW3 that is historical that is great for co-op? I kind of doubt it, but figured this is the best place to ask.

Covid be tactical, operational or strategic, so long as it's turn based, preferably with both human players moving at the same time. Don't want a click fest nor a Paradox micro nightmare.

Thanks.

Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
The Ageod games have simultaneous TB, but I don't know which ones support more than 2 players.
Field of Glory Empire supports multiple players, but if you are allied to the end, it might make the game too easy. It might still be one of the best choices, but it can turn into micro nightmare territory if you take a large faction.
Warno could work, though. I don't think it has co-op campaign yet, and it is RT.

Steel Division 2 also has some coop modes I think.

You also have Empire of Steel, which is a WW2 ish 4X, but I'm not sure the AI would be good enough. I don't remember much about it, but it could be worth checking.

These are not really wargames, but the latter Total wars usually have coop campaign play, but only the battles are simultaneous.
Men of War could work too, but it might enter click fest territory.
Civ can be played simultaneously, and in co-op, but it hardly counts as a wargame.
