Played the heck out of CotNW Deluxe Edition years ago, recently fired it back up via GoG. Any other similar games out there that tackle the ‘new world’?

I enjoyed that game greatly as a young lad.

Are there any games with a similar gameplay; combination of light city builder, light tactical combat, and 4x exploration? I can't think of any off the top of my head.

Are there any strategy/4x games that cover similar time periods? Sid Meier's Colonization, although it is likely you have already played it. I don't know how easy it is to play the original on an emulator, but there is an open source clone of it: https://www.freecol.org/

I have never tried playing it though. Maybe I will now that I am thinking about it.
