As you all know, I've been on hiatus for a while. Well, during that time I've ramped up development of my text-based© CYOARPG© (Choose Your Own Adventure Role Playing Game©), American Hare©. I'm delighted to share some of that information with you today.

The Ultimate Game of Choices and Consequences!©

You play as a humanoid black-tailed jackrabbit, waking up in the small Mexican© town of Santa Rosalía©, in Baja California©. You don't know who you are, what you are, why you are here, and how you came to be. You start in a room that is almost completely empty. It turns out that you are in the house of a family that discovered you. They're extremely religious, and think you're a demon. Your first mission is to escape. Only you can fulfill the prophecy and stop the evil that threatens the North American Free Trade Agreement©.

American Hare© is an alternative style, intuitive 2D RPG© with a slick interface and hand-drawn sprites that have been delicately rotoscoped from trained actors. This isn't a swords and magic fantasy game, it's not a futuristic game, and it's not a post-apocalyptic game either. These genres are stale and bland and gamers today want more. American Hare© will be riding the wave of next generation story based enhancements found in such modern blockbusters as Heavy Rain© and God of War©. Players will immerse themselves in a beautiful artistically rendered world and make choices based on their own unique style of play. Main interactions are drawn via the innovated and patented Quick Button Scripted Action Time Sequence© system that brings immersion to a whole new level.

In American Hare© there will be a wide range of options available to the player. You'll traverse large parts of Central and North America©, mingle with the locals, get work in various fields, and make connections that will help you on your quest. Some of the places you'll visit include the seedy town of Wichita Falls©, the bustling metropolis of Huehuetenángo©, and the opium slave farms of Tijuana©. Will you cooperate with the locals and lend them your help, or will you leave none alive in your wake? It is up to you to save the world of North and Central America©.

As in classic RPG© fashion, the different paths you take will twist and turn as you progress through the story. Here are several eventual paths that players will be able to enjoy.

- For the people who like to play goody-two shoes, watch out. Picking the good option will not always be easy. You might lose out on some quest rewards or steamy brothel© scenes. Every action has a consequence.

- For the people who like to play pure evil, you're not safe either. It is easier to die when you're a baby killing megalomaniac. This generally involves being nasty to every person you meet and choosing the "Destroy the World"© ending.

- For the people who like to play crazy characters, there is a third dial on the patent pending Chefe Enhanced Alignment Meter System© just for you. You can do anything you want but might suffer from aneurysms, forcing you to buy expensive treatments.

The dialog class system assigns you points for most dialog choices in either the good, bad, or crazy territories. These determine what kind of character you are and drastically shape the way you can interact with the game world. They also determine whether you'll get the good, bad, or crazy ending.

Skill system
Your skills determine what you can accomplish. You will build these up as you go once you gain a level through experience points. The available skills are Intelligence©, Strength©, and Dexterity©. Intelligence affects your bionic abilities and how accurate you can shoot, strength affects your overall muscle power and how much damage you inflict from shooting, and dexterity affects how fast you can run and how fast you can shoot.

Job system
Each job or career provides connections and a way to travel around the world and make money. They also provide a handy way to get side quests.

Archeologist© - Involves going to sites and examining ruins via a bust-a-move style minigame. Sometimes you have to fight off cultural preservationists that don't want you to defile the ruins.

Drug Trader - Involves picking up drugs and delivering them. Sometimes you'll have to fight off rival gangs.

Migrant Farmer - Involves harvesting crops. Sometimes you'll have to fight off henchmen sent by multinationals.

Missionary - Involves exorcising demons© by fighting them.

There is no concrete release date for American Hare except to say that it will be appearing in store shelves and on the most popular download sites in 2012©.

I always thought American Hare was a joke, so I guess this is kind of appropriate.
