<strong>[ Interview ]</strong>

<p>Aaron Hall of <a href="http://www.malfador.com/" target="_blank" title="Malfador">Malfador Machinations</a> answered a <a href="http://www.stargamer.net/interviews/2006/08/spaceempiresv/2006-08-25-392032.php" target="_blank" title="interview">few questions</a> for StarGamer.net about <a href="http://www.strategyfirst.com/en/games/SpaceEmpiresV/" target="_blank" title="SE5">Space Empires V</a>, including this one about what needed fixing. </p><blockquote><h2><font size="1">Similarly, what aspects of previous games required re-thinking?</font></h2><p>Aaron: Any items in the game that were clunky or didn't work very well. The entire turn-based combat was a bit unbalanced with one side firing all of its ships before the other side. I could never get that working in a fair and even manner. So in SE5 its now real-time combat, but still with a turn-based game.</p></blockquote><p>Hall also mentioned that there will be a Star Fury II somewhere down the road. In other Space Empires news, the new official SE site, <a href="http://www.spaceempires5.com/" target="_blank" title="SEU">Space Empires Universe</a>, is up and running.</p><blockquote><blockquote><blockquote><blockquote><blockquote><blockquote><a href="http://www.tacticularcancer.com/gallery.php?dir=Space%20Empires%20V&file=se5screen_23.jpg"><img src="http://www.tacticularcancer.com/screenshots/Space%20Empires%20V/thumbs/se5screen_23_thumb.jpg" alt=" " width="200" height="150" /></a></blockquote></blockquote></blockquote></blockquote></blockquote></blockquote><p> </p><p>Spotted @ <a href="http://www.bluesnews.com">Blues News</a></p>

In your head, obviously
I agree this time completely. The tactical combat is still very tactical because of the unlimited variety of ship-constructions and the pause, while in the same time it is much more fluid. I so hated how much time I spent in SEIV just flying my 50 ships twoards the enemy 50 ships. Now all it takes is two clicks and a 4 second wait.

And I hope he finally picks up the idea of letting SEV playing out behind the scenes of a Star Fury to generate the dynamic changes in the universe, instead of a predefined campaign.
