A Weird Strategy Game Idea by me: Colony Earth

While not doing anything, I think of potential game ideas. Then something came to me while I was playing Europa Universalis II: A Grand Strategy Game where Earth is being attacked by aliens. can't write much right now, though, but here it is:

It is 2050. Earth is in chaos and upheaval. Peak Oil is aproaching, wars are brewing in the tense areas of the world, and the BRIC countries are trying to wrestle economic superiority from the United States. It is a moment that will define the story of earth. Then Earth is contacted by aliens. Not one alien race, multiple races and factions. Strange ships and buildings appear in desolated areas of the planet and outside of it, and the reaction from it ranges to optimism to militaries on full alert. The nations of Earth will try contact, fearful of starting a inter-stellar war against alien conquistadores. This is where the game begins. Earth is about to become China during the Opium Wars.

Gameplay: A mix of Victoria-style economy (but better to use) and HOI2 combat. Combat for humans and aliens can be very different. Playing with humans is kinda like playing HOI2 MDS2, except the economy is more complicated. Humans have immense numerical superiority, a immense industrial base, homefield advantage, diplomatic bonuses and knowlodge of the local climates and biomes. Also they have nukes. However, humanity usually has antiquated technology, and our force projection capacity in space is a joke, which gives the aliens free reign to flee to near offworld bases, start orbital attacks, drop troops on earth or simply thrown things at us earthlings. The multiple alien races and factions are much inferior in number (each fleet usually has 100.000 aliens on it, not all soldiers), but their technology, knowlodge of the universe, natural capabilities (depending on species), space travel and sheer firepower make up for it.

GOAL: The goal is to be the most powerful faction by 2100 using a combination of diplomacy, war, economic domination, culture and science. Human nations have to wipe out all aliens out of the solar system and end with more points to win. World Domination is very hard, but possible if you do things properly and manipulate other nations and aliens. Economic and diplomatic domination means that you can find help from other nations against the alien menace. Alien factions need to wipe out all the other alien factions and then either estabilish a big presence on earth, wipe out humanity or use their diplomatic skills to convice humanity to join them as vassals.

Human Nations (the ones I can write right now):

USA: USA is still powerful, but no longer the undisputed world power it once was. Tensions outside and inside the country threaten the American Way of Life. Islamic Fundamentalism is taking hold of the Middle East. Chinese supremacy in Asia is starting to be clear. North Korea seems more and more threating each moment. Tensions inside the country may cause a civil war. recently, rumors of aliens in the Mojave Desert and in the Great Plans caused the governament to start a mobilization. The Peak Oil is starting to affect America and cause a economic problem. Their allies are the United Kingdown, Iraq, Afghanistan and NATO can be called to help in certain situations.

Brazil: Brazil is currently a regional power. The second richest country of America, it suffers from income inequality, corruption and a small military with obsolete weaponry. However, Brazil is starting to show its claws, exerting influence on Africa, the Lusosphere and in South America. Venezuela, Cuba, Bolivia and Argentina run counter to Brazil's ambicions on the continent. The Brazilian Military is on the path of modernization. Rumors say aliens are landing in the Amazon, and the governament is gearing for war against either the aliens or the Bolivarian Alliance. Brazil is resource-rich and energetically self-suficient thanks to advanced technology. Their allies are Chile, Colombia and Paraguay.

Russia: Russia is rich and powerful. While no longer a world power, Russia brings considerable power to the table. Member of the Shanghai Pact, Russia and China oppose USAmerican ambition in Eurasia. Russia has been extending its influence since the peaceful annexation of Belarus in 2030. Eastern Europe is currently divided between the pro-russians and pro-EU countries. The presence of Aliens in Siberia is suspected.

China: China is the new world power. China's blue water navy patrols the Pacific, and their army is immensely powerful. China is the main partner of many nations. Their resource base is rich, but their immense industry is hungry for more resources. Their western provinces, however, are poor and miserable. Their allies are North Korea, Vietnam and the Shanghai Pact.

India: India victory in the War of 27 solidified India rise to Continental Power status. India still has immense unequality problems that it must solve to grow. India prefers non-intervention, but the threat of alien invasion may force them to act.

(other nations coming soon)
