A question about blacksmiths

For those of us who will not be using crafting, will there be an option to get some upgrades to our weapons or armor via the local blacksmiths?

It seems odd to me that you can't bring them some materials and pay them a bit of money to craft a weapon or upgrade some armor.

Figured it would at least add a bit of flavor and utility to the blacksmiths

You don't actually need that, because you can buy special weapons at the market plazza and the temple district. If everyone could have the same upgrades of crafting, the skill would be pointless.

You get plenty of loot in game when you play combat oriented build. If you play hybrid even you will get some better loot eventually. Hell playing hybrid build is best way to get one of the best weapons and armor as those are for you to buy.

Crafting simply gives you that edge in fight. It isn't win button.
I really liked how unique weapons were handled in AoD.

I like how flat system is and provides that edge when you have better equipment.
