...according to the BioDocs. And who would know better than those guys?

When asked if they would be doing more of this type of storytelling, the response was affirmative. As a studio, BioWare look for inspiration from other developers’ products. According to Zeschuk “One thing about developers is they’re all really good at certain things. When I think about Bethesda – and I don’t mean to criticise. I think it’ll probably be big praise – more than anyone they are unbelievably good at creating a sense of place. Like you’re there. It’s incomparable.

“And so all of us are good at different things. We’re good at telling structural character-driven narratives. That’s our really big strength so for us to get to where Bethesda was on their sense of place, we’d have to work on it for ten years. They worked on it for ten years. Every game you can see they’ve done it a little bit better, a little bit better, a little bit better. That’s kind of the magic of development is that to really get great in the craft you have to actually repetitively build upon it for years and years.”

So if Bethesda are 10 years ahead of BioWare then why are Bethesda only just introducing romances?

Bioware has talked about for 10 years how great System Shock is.

JUST DO IT GODDAMNIT!!!!

System Shock 3

Developed by Bioware.

If that doesn't send shivers down your spine then maybe a romanceable SHODAN pounding your ass with a computer-controlled dildo will.

So Bioware thinks of itself to be on Morrowind level now, and 5 years beyond Daggerfall?

Not in twenty lifetimes, Greg. Not in twenty lifetimes.

...Surprisingly though, it is somewhat correct the other way around. As far as Structural Character-Driven Narratives™ go, Bethesda sorta kinda does approach the level of BG1 nowadays. Which is a tremendous decline from the times there was none to be found.

A Law Firm currently own the rights to System Shock, so THANK GOD THEY CAN'T.

We don't need another Space Cover shooter with romances...

- Because they will do romances better? They got furry people and lizard people and dark elves. Only success will result from this. Besides, Morrowind had romances in it: Bethesda is just upping their game.

I'm aware of one romance. A furry one, nonetheless. Were there more?
