<div>After realizing a few days ago that <a href="http://totalgaming.stardock.com/" target="_blank">Totalgaming</a> subscribers (which I am) still had access to Beta 1 of <a href="http://www.sinsofasolarempire.com/features.html" target="_blank">Sins of a Solar Empire</a> if they pre-ordered, I decided to give the game a try. After getting sucked in until 5 am, going to bed only to prevent, ahem, marital issues, I thought I'd write about what I thought about the game so far.</div><div>

I guess this comment comes a bit late but whatever.

I built a few research centers, hoping it would speed up research, but have no idea if it did.

I did not play the beta for weeks so my memory may be a little blurry but I think each research center can research a different tech simultaneously at Tier 1 and higher Tiers techs need (Tier level)x Research centers to be researched. That means you need 3 research centers for a single Tier 3 tech, you can research 2 Tiers 2 techs at once with 4 research centers and so on.
