Didn't know we have people familiar with Gurdjieff here. His self-remembering (or self-presence) is pretty much the core of the spritual path.

I love his aristocratic approach to the nature of the soul. It greatly reminds me of my first influential teacher William Walker Atkinson. Atkinson's most aristocratic works, Arcane Teachings and Personal Power, are full of reminders that "I am I" and that one has to always remember his true nature, which is not the personality.

Gurdjieff says that a true afterlife is possible only if one forges a vehicle outside of the physical body. Atkinson says the same in Arcane Teachings. I have wondered for a long time if their source of knowledge had the same hidden roots. Gurdjieff claimed to have gained knowledge from Sufis, Atkinson alluded to a source in India.
