baldur's gate had a significant marketing campaign compared to the fallout games, original fallout was expected to be a flop iirc.

Yup, I've seen Desslock's stats before. Something to keep in mind that his stats are from March 2000. Fallout and Fallout 2 had been out for years, Torment only a few months. Wouldn't surprise me if Torment ended up outselling the Fallouts over time, being a fantasy game.
