The point he was trying to make was that (in his opinion), falling jobs and wages are destroying family across the world. Why? A man with a crappy job or no job probably won't marry. But a woman with a crappy job or no job can marry. Result is 1) fewer people having families, 2) a huge class of single men are going to face social and economic exclusion.
