They thought Amsterdam and Hague would be cities of parties, alcohol, drugs, and all round fun. But Dutch people supposedly do not do any of it. They just want to be with their wife/husband/boyfriend/girlfriend and kids and that is it. When they try to be social with Dutch colleagues and acquaintances, they are coldly told by them that they are not interested in friends or meeting new people.

It's how we roll. Calvinism and individualisation. That and way too many tourists in Amsterdam who just make people become jaded. Then there is also the fact that we don't often do social stuff together with co-workers and expats are bound for a lonely time. Plus, Amsterdam is filled with assholes.

Trash, it seems that Dutch people only get very extroverted once they leave their country and live in another one. But the same is also true for Finns, I suppose. This judging by the Finns and Dutch in Barcelona, which is not a big sample size, I admit.
