Arkane Austin and Tango Gameworks shut down by Microsoft

What good games have come out on it recently? I think that's probably your answer, rather than global demographics of young gamers. Young people don't want to play lame games.

Arkane Austin and Tango Gameworks shut down by Microsoft

There's a lot of factors but honestly one of these is just a huge, cancerous degree of incompetence in the AAA space. All across the board, and now we're seeing the consequences of that. They've been hiring people that have no business in the games industry.

Game News Swordhaven Kickstarter Approaches Final Stretch

Congrats! It's always nice to see one of these succeed.

What is Codex's opinion of Unreal Engine 5? Anybody here working with it?

    Helldivers 2

Throwing you towards a bile titan or tank is totally expected and a meta move at this point. Throwing you into a horde of hunters is a noob/dick move. Just play difficulty 9. Trial by fire and in a few games you realize it's really not that hard. That being said, the game has completely run...

Still Wakes the Deep - narrative horror game from The Chinese Room set on an oil rig off the coast of Scotland - coming June 18th

Super late reply, but Stasis 2 is quite similar to this concept, it's complete and actually very good. The dev also shows up on codex from time to time. You personally may have heard of it, but just leaving this link here in case others are interested...

Manor Lords - medieval city-building with large scale battles

Those are actually good fixes and some of my (and thousands of other players') top complaints about the game.

Manor Lords - medieval city-building with large scale battles

You know, the dev could've side-stepped a lot of shit if he just posted a roadmap. Even something as simple as May - busy with tons of drugs and hookers June - buying new real estate, irl, with all my new money July - finally getting around to fixing small bugs Etc

So how hard is RPG solodev? An AMA thread

I think there's a fair amount of interest in old school iso RPGs. Definitely enough to support a solodev if you play your cards right. For example, a fallout/IF engine style RPG that's set in any of the following settings (post-apoc, medieval fantasy, space opera, cyberpunk) with a solid combat...

Hades II - roguelike dungeon crawler sequel

I like how the shield completely trivialized the first game. Sadly, we'll probably never see such an OP weapon in the series ever again.

So how hard is RPG solodev? An AMA thread

If this is important for you, look anywhere else but gamedev. I'm sure you've done enough research by now to know that this industry is horrible for anywhere close to a stable income. Even people who have sold very well on one game are unable to replicate successes. Also, catering to...

So how hard is RPG solodev? An AMA thread

Why even be gamedev? I could make more money doing a thousand other things than gamedev. Lol you're asking the wrong person. I do some preliminary market research but other than that I just brute force my way through. I don't work on projects because I think they'll be successful. I work on...

So how hard is RPG solodev? An AMA thread

Oh yes, and not just art but generative voice and other utilities as well. I'm afraid I'm not using AI for anything simple or productive such as increasing the production value of my games. Instead, all of my games have always been hyper focused on AI development and I'm using generative tech...

So how hard is RPG solodev? An AMA thread

    1. I do have a patreon. I treat it as a tip jar. My business model is that I sell games, not the promise of a game that won't come out in 8 years because I have to milk everyone dry of money. 2. No, because I'm clearly not in it for the money. Making RPGs is bad for money. Making text-heavy...
