Sounds awesome. I always loved that noir hard-boiled detective fiction genre. Can't wait to see that.
  2. Thief fan missions and campaigns

Instead of that, why don't you follow JarlFrank's example and start making your own Thief fan mission? Open that editor and show us all an FM that rises above all the shortcomings you see in everyone else's missions.

This times a hundred. There is far, far too much snobbery and prejudice in Thief communities about what a Thief FM "should" be. God help the unsuspecting FM author that dares to stray from the formula. Unkillable Cat, your tirades reek of this. Timed objectives and no loot requirements? "THAT'S...

I have mixed feelings about this sort of design decision. Night One of "The Seven Sisters" did this as well, and nobody seems to complain about that. I haven't played KoI yet, but I'll admit that I hated the first mission of Seven Sisters initially for that very reason, until I realized that it...

The Codex really is becoming the TTLG refugee camp! Welcome, DrK. I've not played Rocksbourg but I'll definitely give it a try based on all the positive things I've heard about it.

No matter what others say about it, I'll probably give "Heartcliff" a try simply because Qolelis' first FM, "The Sun Within and the Sun Without," was probably the single most intriguing and original Thief fan mission I've ever played. I just hope he made the loot placement less murderously...

I couldn't disagree more. I like my cathedrals shaped like ice cream. They taste better that way.
  8. Thief fan missions and campaigns

Funny you should mention that. I absolutely love Equilibrium and ROTB (can't wait for GORT to finish the second one), so I don't think it was the difficulty of ROO that was turning me off but just the general feel of the first mission. Nevertheless, I think I will steel myself to try it once...

Ok, I'll bite, and I'll try to be as civil as possible. RUINS OF ORIGINIA :argh: I can't stand the damn thing. Maybe Unkillable Cat can help to explain why this mission gets fellated on TTLG so much. I never played any of the Ultima games, so maybe that's the problem. I just can't see the...

Listen to Yoda the scary-ass puppet. Most horror-themed Thief FM's really scare through their atmosphere, not by using cheap jump scares (like the extremely popular laxative-slash-indie horror game Five Nights at Freddy's), so it's usually manageable. For anyone that really wants to steer...
  11. Thief fan missions and campaigns

Exactly! Now all Thief needs is more ninjas, pirates, dragons, space aliens, oompa loompas, and the bow upgrade and it would be damn perfect! :) Okay, sure, the lighting effect comes on a bit strong in those pics, I'll admit.

On the topic of touching up the OM's, can you begin to imagine the sheer awesomeness if all of the OM's were redone from scratch but with NewDark? Keep the same story, enemies, themes, and whatnot, but change the maps themselves to really push the Dark Engine to what it can handle. Imagine one...
  13. Thief fan missions and campaigns

I agree. T1 had the tighter story and more interesting locales/enemies, though T2 still has memorable moments. It's a shame that LGS didn't spice things up more with the better engine on hand, but the FM makers have more than made up for that! The FNaF FM idea is great. If one of the veteran...

The lighting is fantastic in those last two shots.
  15. Thief fan missions and campaigns

That's definitely a reasonable complaint. The sound could use some work, though their team seems pretty strapped for help and time right now. However, it seems from my limited experience playing around with the Dark Radiant editor that mappers have a lot more control over certain things than...
