What game are you wasting time on?

Finished The Dark Queen of Krynn. Nice enough game but had some frustrating parts - areas that were difficult to navigate, too many teleporters, tricksy elves, and often tedious combat. Too many fights against enchanted draconians and mages spamming delayed blast fireballs. The game was...

What game are you wasting time on?

Finished Death Knights of Krynn! Much better than Champions, with more interesting encounter design and other small improvements. Very cozy game. Enjoyed it a lot. Now playing The Dark Queen of Krynn. Not sure I like the fancy new look. And my Underrail no trading playthrough continues. My...

What game are you wasting time on?

Returned to the first RPG I ever tried (and didn't like): Champions of Krynn. Really fucking painful at first, but after a while I got used to things and it's been all right. Combat isn't great - most encounters just require disabling enemies before they do they same to the PCs and there's...

What game are you wasting time on?

I finally tried Disco Elysium. Not for me. The quirkiness gets tiresome, I don't have much interest in the world or the mystery, and I have enough political discussions in real life. Started Wasteland 3. Good fun so far! Couldn't get into WL2, but I don't actually remember why I felt so meh...

Torment If you could unplay an RPG, what would it be?

Pathfinder: Kingmaker is the only game I have ever truly hated. Felt like it was purposefully designed to waste player's time - everything was slow and sticky, there was lots of going back and forth and kingdom management got in the way of adventuring. I loathed the companions and how the game...

Colony Ship Early Access Release Thread [GAME RELEASED, GO TO NEW THREAD]

Ok, bought the game and been playing for a couple of days (just entering the Habitat). It's turning out to be better than expected. Still not a fan of the stiff design when it comes to quests, story progress and skill challenges, but it's much improved from AoD. I've got a melee guy with two...

Colony Ship Early Access Release Thread [GAME RELEASED, GO TO NEW THREAD]

I was having my gaming midlife crisis and not paying attention. I can wait until the game goes on sale, did not mean to whine about that. But I am in the target audience, have a passion for scifi, played the devs previous games with moderate enthusiasm and I still consider the price too high...

Colony Ship Early Access Release Thread [GAME RELEASED, GO TO NEW THREAD]

Yeah, too expensive. I liked AoD and Dungeon Rats just fine but they're not among my favorites. Played through a couple of times and haven't touched them since. This does sound better, but 25€ is still about max I'd pay (but would be willing to pay more if there was a Linux version). The setting...

    Fallout Fallout 4 Thread

Finished my first playthrough of Fallout 4 (no mods, about 160 hours) and I fucking love the game. Never been a fan of Beth stuff so didn't expect that at all. Some thoughts... - Combat is very fun even if simple and the enemy variety lacking. The movement and weapons feel good. Never liked...

    Underrail: The Incline Awakens

I thought I'd just rush through the expedition questline and go back to the non-gaming things I was supposed to be doing, but now that I'm done I think I need to make time for a full new playthrough after all. So much cool new stuff! How are people liking the spears?

What game will best teach me how to enjoy RTwP combat?

Icewind Dale 1&2 are rtwp at its best. The first one is easier and most people like it better, but the second has overall more interesting encounters. IWD1 was one of the first cRPGs I played and I did fine even though I'd previously played mostly tb strategy and shooters.

    Dev Log #55: Global Map

I also enjoyed exploring without a map. The worm labyrinth was the only bit where I got frustrated and drew a map. One of my favorite moments in my first playthrough was when my low level sneaky character got stuck in a situation where my explorations had taken me to an area where I had no hope...
