  1. Editorial Eurogamer retrospective of an old classic

What the heck is he talking about? These days, game critics will use any 'argument' to force first person perspective on any and every game.
  2. A macabre question regarding in-game graveyards.

The Curse of Monkey Island also has a cemetery and a tomb, on Blood Island.
  3. Game series that keep improving?

The Anno-series. The original city builders by Impressions (Caesar, Pharaoh, Zeus, Emperor) also kept improving, in a modest way. Caesar IV was not so good, though. We could probably name a few arcade series as well. I would've said Pro Evolution Soccer if the last two editions weren't so bad.
  4. BG2 - first time play-through

Just install BG2 Fixpack (already contains Baldurdash) and Widescreen Mod. The only content altering mods I'd recommend for a first playthrough are Unfinished Business (restores a few planned sidequests) and the Rogue Rebalancing Mod if you're going to play a thief. Tweak Pack only if you know...
  5. The Console Witcher is Dead, Long Live Witcher 2

This is really bad news. If this means we'll get a big, bloated interface with less room for text (The Witcher had lots of cool lore) and consolish combat controls, The End. The over the shoulder camera and combat made the game unplayable for me. I also pray they won't adjust (infantilize) the...
  6. Icewind dale 2 better than 1

I like IWD1. The main storyline is one big, tedious cliché, but each dungeon has its own backstory that makes it more than just a hacking and slashing experience. Is IWD2 as combat heavy as the first game or did they choose for more dialogue/roleplaying?
  7. Recommend some different adventure games

Yes. I agree that the FMV adventure is not the best invention ever, but I still play GK2 about once a year. It has fantastic atmosphere, a lot of tension between characters and a very interesting antagonist. While GK3 isn't as good, it has one of the best stories I have encountered in a video...
  8. GhostDog's PST UI mod v2.2 - UNEXPECTEDLY UPDATED 3.11.2021

Wow, fantastic! I've toyed with the 1024 version, but 1280 will look a lot better on my 1680 screen. And the interface got even prettier! Thanks guys! :)
  9. Company News CD Projekt announces Good Old Games

I hope they'll add System Shock 2 and make it compatible with XP and the latest hardware. Maybe then I'll finally have a chance to play it. The old Tex Murphy games would be great as well.
  10. Editorial Peter Molyneux on innovation

Black & White lacked story? No, it lacked interesting long-term gameplay. After a few hours many levels came down to throwing rocks across the map because your influence didn't get big enough to do much else to impress foreign villagers. The game got very boring after a while and that wasn't...
  11. Game News Dragon Age News Roundup

I'm not impressed with the graphics either. Neverwinter Nights 2 looks better than this video, and that's the old Aurora engine! Hopefully the final product will look better, although it won't affect my opinion on the game a lot. I'm more curious about the dialogues and the way the origin...
  12. Burning PS2 games

No, you need some special hardware. You can't just burn a cd, pop it in a regular PS2 and expect it to work.
  13. Emil on level scaling

Was this possible to mod in Oblivion? If not, I don't think there's a big chance it's possible in this game, if the mod tools are released. Even then, someone just reminded me that no-one in Oblivion ever gave you directions. You were just supposed to follow the arrow. But of course someone...
  14. Emil on level scaling

Argh, why do they insist on copying everything that Fallout-fans hated about Oblivion? They could at least have looked at the way STALKER handled locations on the map. Is it already known whether or not the compass can be disabled? Thanks for posting the link, Brother None. Now I'm 100% sure...
  15. Development Info Malcolm McDowell plays the bad guy in Fallout 3

Well, his portrayal of Alex in A Clockwork Orange was genius. Not that I can recall any other movie he played in... You're probably right, but if I recall correctly Fallout 1 and 2 also featured a few 'famous' actors, like Ron Pearlman and that guy from MacGyver. I'm sure they can make a...
