How the illusion and myth of Todd Howard as a good game designer came to be - Todd's Bethesda has never been a quality developer

As someone whose first FO was Fallout 3, which I enjoyed and still enjoy today, I think you spotted perfectly the case why Bethesda came to be during PS360 era. Really love the game and don't understand the hate, even if I agree with the criticism and dumbed down writing, but ironically I find...

Anime Witcher 2: one of the best storyfag RPGs ever made?

Witcher 2 would be great if it weren't for that absurd "villain" that doesn't makes sense even when you know his reasons. The other side characters also feel unidimensional and cartoonish(except for Roche maybe) and the branching story achieves to make the player miss half the details of a great...

There's no such thing as "future rpg players". Nobody under 25 years old plays RPGs anymore

I'm 24 and I play RPGs. I even have a compilation of Icewind Dale in physical since I was 14.

What is more enjoyable, playing CRPGs or talking about them here?

The ultimate enjoyment is to "play" rpgs on youtube, twitch, gamefaqs, ... and talk about it as if you were the one who played them, but you are not prepared to this philosophy of life.

What game are you wasting time on?

I started playing The Witcher 1 and the combat felt pretty lame until somehow it began growing on me at the end of chapter 1. Still it feels weird to play but everything else pays off, from the music to the attention to the lore and background from the books. One can see the love from CD Projekt...

    RPG design should be about...

I try not to play a game with preconceived expectations, so I rely on the devs to make the experience they think is the best for their game. But if it's bethesda it will be shit no matter what.

For me the combat got awfully repetitive. Like you you said it's not bad, but it won't get better on the run.

    Party based RPG's shouldn't have non-combat skills.

I think that's thet way they meant to be played. To make you have a balanced party to complete the cool quests instead of a team of six berserk pure-bred orcs specialised in big swords so you can obviously break the combat. Or as a tool to make you take that choice consciously.
