  1. Game News Mass Effect (and Spore) copy protection PHUN

Add-on doesn't need to be cracked since the latest patch, which is required to play online, removes the copy protection altogether. But yeah Sacred took a while to crack, and that copy protection was not only the standard types of commercial copy protection but also some built into the game code...
  2. Preview Sacred 2 ganderings at IGN

I'm in favor of random quests also, even the standard FedEx quests, and randomly generated areas. What I'd really like to see is Sacred with a static world aboveground and a lot of randomly created dungeons. With an ARPG, it's *gotta* be replayable. First time through is fun, second...
  3. How does one stop piracy?

@cardtrick Same here, every game I own, the first thing I do is check a pirate forum for not only the nocd cracks, but also the latest patches. Those pirate types are fast with finding out when games have patches released, and the forum I watch is a great one-stop-shopping place to find out...
  4. Mods for Master of Orion 2?

3 isn't worth getting with or without mods. I haven't heard of any for 2, and that's kind of surprising. Depressing too.
  5. Silent Hunter 4. Opinions?

Buggy. Lots of bugs. Check the subsim forums for a really good list of all the bugs, and some workarounds/mods to make it playable. Still fun though.
  6. Preview Sacred 2 ganderings at Action Trip

Best part about Sacred 1 is that the latest patch for Sacred Gold or Underworld removes the copy protection. Woot ;) Sacred 2, well, oddly enough I actually don't know much about it. Was asked to beta test but had to turn them down, I just don't have enough time any more. And with regards...
  7. Volourn + NWN2: A Single Journey, Many Spoilers, and Boredom

Never thought I'd say this, but... Thanks Volly, good little impressions review. I may just have to go pick this game up. At one point you mentioned wishing to be able to get rid of a party member-can that be done, or are you stuck with them if you choose (I'm assuming choose) to take...
  8. Dwarf Fortress

If your circle of hardcore 'gamer' friends won't touch a roguelike, they're not gamers, they're more like hardcore graphics whores. Playing Counterstrike or WoW eight hours a day does not qualify one as a hardcore gamer.
  9. Company News Atari Europe will publish The Witcher

The publisher: authorizes the patches pays for patches QAs the patches releases the patches has final say over a patch being produced or not Check out Atari's recent history on games and patches. Look at Master of Orion 3, for example, or even Sid Meier's Pirates!, also.
  10. Company News Atari Europe will publish The Witcher

Influence it? Atari would kill it. Two patches and that's all you'll get from Atari, whether the devs want to do more or not.
  11. Review Darkstar One acceptable to Yahoo

Originally, I think you were supposed to be able to ignore the story. In the final product, however, it seems to move farther into the universe, you must complete some of the storyline.
  12. What kind of options does everyone want in a new Roguelike?

Graphics=not necessary in a roguelike. A separate download that adds tiles, OK, not a problem-TKZangband, I think it was, had a ton of tilesets that really enhanced the game. But they're not necessary at all. Yeah, I'm oldschool. And I figure if you're making a roguelike, you're not doing it...
  13. Game News NWN2: Munchkin Edition - must see to believe!

The rings are just nice-an added little touch. Wouldn't miss them if they weren't there, but they're nice. Kind of like games that come with figurines, useless but cool all the same. The book is fun to look at once or twice, after that it'll get lost and not be missed. As for the...
  14. Game News NWN2: Munchkin Edition - must see to believe!

The map, the rings and the book are excellent additions and a reason to buy a limited edition version. However, the other extras make me want to puke, so it's not happening in my house.
  15. Game News Two Worlds hype and delay

Is it just me or does anyone else see 'Typoware' instead of Topware? And I think that late in the development of the game is the wrong time to suddenly discover "new options regarding graphics and game play"
