  1. DarkDale: Betrayal -- new indie RT blobber

    That's the current plan.
  2. DarkDale: Betrayal -- new indie RT blobber

Hi guys, new update and new video, the spellcasting and combat systems are shaping up: http://www.darkdale.net/2015/08/with-fire-and-axe/ :)
  3. DarkDale: Betrayal -- new indie RT blobber

Indeed it is! But I've grown up and lived in Montreal for almost 30 years now, so my home's here now (right accross the street from Ubisoft HQ... ;) ). Doktor Best, interesting ideas, I'll think about it. I'll start by getting the basic enginge ready and maybe try such things later in testing...
  4. DarkDale: Betrayal -- new indie RT blobber

Hi there! I hadn't watched the thread for a while, but thanks to Infinitron for raising it back :). I was in generally going for slower combat pace, Grimrock 2 tried to "fix" the two-step problem by making enemies jump around you much faster, which was nice, but gave a much-more action-oriented...
  5. Game News Deathfire Cancelled

Well, the game I'm developing is exactly that, and I'm not dropping it. :) And I'm personally sad to see Deathfire go down the drain, it's a game I was looking forward to play, myself. But I agree he was asking too much and seeing too big for what is still a niche genre.
  6. DarkDale: Betrayal -- new indie RT blobber

hey theSavant , thanks for the kind comments! No offence for the previous words, I got into this project expecting a lot of "pfff, another Grimrock" reactions. It sure is, but I hope to make it more than that. BTW, what image codes? To access the main blog on darkdale.net? I know there are...
  7. Interview Talking to Marcin Kruczkiewicz about Hellraid

My aim is not to reinvent the RPG genre, but offer a fine game. But that doesn't mean it's a plain copy-paste of other games. While the core gameplay will be very close to the DM / EoB / Grimrock lineage, I'm putting a lot of attention to details such as character development, and eventually...
  8. DarkDale: Betrayal -- new indie RT blobber

A new update, where I discuss combat a bit further and introduce the skills system: http://www.darkdale.net/2013/06/skills-and-combat/ :)
  9. DarkDale: Betrayal -- new indie RT blobber

Don't worry metro, I have a clear vision of the game I want to do, and won't change my mind overnight because of a forum post. I'm just open to discussion and this just made me wonder: "if most of my favorite games are TB, why am I making a RT one?". Maybe I believe indeed there is unused design...
  10. DarkDale: Betrayal -- new indie RT blobber

@Edvk, indeed RT was not at all a buisness decision, but a design one. As I said, integrated gameplay and inclusion of level design in combat were some of the main pros. Maybe it's a sentimental attachment to DM indeed... Yeah, I'm sorry for the imprecision about those games I mentionned, I...
  11. DarkDale: Betrayal -- new indie RT blobber

Hi guys! First post here, even if I've been hearing about and lurking on these forums for awhile. I'm the guy behind the DarkDale project, so I can give a bit of insight on some of my design decisions, and also welcome comments and suggestions if you have any. First of all, some context...
