More to do with the job markets and the games that big companies were hiring for (majority of designer jobs available were for action games that they didn't want to do make). There has be a couple of periods in the industry where a significant amount of game developers were fighting for a small...
  3. Interview RPG Codex Interview: Corey Cole on Quest for Glory and Hero-U (Now on Kickstarter!)

Their experience comes as much from being lifetime DnD gamers. The only reason they haven't made more RPGs was that no one was hiring game developers for RPGs for a long period outside the well known big companies that already had established teams, so they went to other companies and other...
  4. KickStarter Hero-U: Rogue to Redemption - adventure-RPG from the creators of Quest for Glory

That perspective is going to probably stay as it let's us creating a larger game on a smaller budget. The art style will change drastically and probably me more painted in style (think Bastion). Equipped items will be less important in this game as you're not really built to fight things heads...

Yes, it's finally live http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1878147873/hero-u-rogue-to-redemption Thank goodness, the waiting was killing us!

Yes, under the current plan you won't be able to bring your character into, at least, the direct sequel. However, the games will all be interconnected, so you're character will be an important player if there is a sequel.

-Will this game be party based, or will you only control one PC as in OFG? The plan is to have one PC, who has multiple options and choices for how he handles combat situations. There will be lots of very social characters inside the school, but you'll always just be handling your PC...
  8. KickStarter Hero-U: Rogue to Redemption - adventure-RPG from the creators of Quest for Glory

To be honest, combat is going to be the most in flux part of the game at the moment. We have a planned combat system, but it's one that will need testing to make it's fast, strategic and challenging-ly fun.. Right now it's a solo hero, with multi-panel movement (one of the issues with a...
  9. KickStarter Hero-U: Rogue to Redemption - adventure-RPG from the creators of Quest for Glory

Hahaha. I'm sooo not working in the industry (I work for a startup). I'm Corey and Lori's son, so I had the traumatizing experience of growing up seeing the utter lack of "competency" from managers and marketers for big game companies. Definitely, not my cup of tea. When you hear those...

I'm volunteering my time to handle the marketing for the project, so I'm involved in all of the development conversations.
  11. KickStarter Hero-U: Rogue to Redemption - adventure-RPG from the creators of Quest for Glory

There won't be any Facebook or social elements in the game, or anything required outside it. We are super excited to get this Kickstarter going, everything that has been produced by the team has been stunning, and we hope by sharing our progress that RPG fans will agree. In terms of how...
