Voted Bravely Default because what the fuck does that even mean. "Flying Fairy" is just a nail in the coffin.

DivDiv is cheesy but tolerable, while Div:OS is actually an okay name, IMO. Well, except the whole thing with the colon.

Ys

(it came out on the PC-88)
May not be the smartest, but definitely the most googl-able name out there. Interestingly, also one of the most misspelled names I've seen.

I was pretty disappointed by Skyrim. I went to a games convention and standing in line for the presentation I heard two guys in front of me joking about the title, one guy saying he thought it was pronounced /skʉɹɪm/. I assumed as much from the north setting and was quite dumbstruck when I found out it was actually sky and rim put together with English pronunciation. I also was disappointed even more.

The most north situated country of the continent....rim of the sky...Skyrim. It ain't a work of genius but I can see the natural way in which such a name might appear. There are far worse offenders. Maybe it sounds more X-TREME and guttural in draconic.

"Okay, so High Rock is where the scotsBretons come from. Skyrim is the place with the vikingsNord. Where do these weird pot-smoking cat people come from?"
"Well, it definitely has to be somewhere else."
"You mean they come from... elsewhere?"
"Dude, bro, you're a genius! Just say it with an olde english accent and we're done."

Nothing to do with the actual quality of the game, but I always considered "Serpent in the Staglands" to be a very strange title...

Risen is a great name. Totally encapsulates the whole feeling of the game.

Black Geyser, however.... what the fuck.

NetHack - "Hack" was passable for a fantasy setting. "NetHack" sounds like cyberpunk.

Ultima 9 Ascension - Neither an Ultima nor an ascension

Zed "Kingdom Come : Deliverance" is undoubtedly the stupidest title of them all. A classic example of the "let's string together as many empty, bombastic buzzwords as we can" syndrome, so prevalent in vidya gaems.
The result is so bland and impersonal it's not even funny...

Video games you say....

It also follows the fairly simple "string words together to make new words way" Germanic languages work which follows the whole Nord culture.

Each province name has some flavour to it, cept Black Marsh. It always felt like they spent all their time on the rest and then forgot about where the Argonians come from and decided its a swamp and that it should be a dark jungley onel.

Risen is a great name. Totally encapsulates the whole feeling of the game.

The ending narration of the first game puts it in place.
