2142's titan mode is a lot of fun, shame it is dead a lot of the time. Last time I checked the servers (few months ago), they got full on weekends tho.

If you want to play the game until May, that is:

"Battlefield 2142 uses Gamespy for its multiplayer, whose services will shut down by the end of May 2014 so there's no better time to try this game's multiplayer. Probably why its price went so low? I doubt EA will do anything to update the game so multiplayer can still be played afterward."

EA claims they are transitioning the servers so 2142 will still be playable online.

Definitely agree. Also it was the only online shooter that I liked enough to reach godlike levels of play. At least it felt like that at the time.

Yep, agreed. Played in an online community for RO that tried to simulate the War in Europe. We had a campaign map, tons of mods were used, force limits, purchasing upgrades, a timeline of weapons used(so can't use a Panther in 41, etc.). It was glorious and wonderful, and then came the buggy mess of RO2. So much promise, but it kind of ruined the community.

I was going to save money for thiaf but then i downloaded the dark mod and forgot about it.

I don't enjoy the dark mod that much either though, because gameplay feels too unrealistic.
