Is it mod for FO or something man?
Surf Solar's Mod maybe?

Uh its Fallout Tactics, a turn based tactical squad game in the fallout universe. Actually not a bad game, not great mind you but very decent.

Yeah, the graphics are fapfest for isometric graphic lovers. The engine was obviously tinkered, and it shows. I was so starved up on Fallout, but decided to pop my tactical cherry at last. The combat system is, as in originals, simple and good. Sometimes it takes some time to end it, when there are many enemies near you. They change from raiders, beastlords(plus deathclaws and other animals), super mutants (without a doubt the hardest missions), and robots. You can forget about sniper diplomat and go for sniper only . My main character started with it, had one more sniper, medic, jack of all guns guy (Jax), Brian (heavy guns to the max, M-249 Saw will be your friend for the most of the game, and later BFG, I mean Browning M2). I took a grenade tossing guy but later on he didn't even had a chance to fight, so I replaced him with sniper/medic and after some time started to raise energy weapons.

I would play a sequel, that's for sure. And be sure to try it Indranys, for critical shots animations only ;).

Especially the indestructible walls and doors, which are an unique feature feature when it comes to tactical games.

 :salute:
Still, porting FO and FO2 to FOT engine and expanding some maps to use its features would already incline them by about 200%.

Except that the graphics of FOT look like shit/soulless compared to the ones in FO1/2.

Thanks bros. :salute:
Honestly I hear a lot of disappointing things about the game, so I'm avoiding it until now.
But I'll try it for sure.

Fallout Tactics... been a while since I played that. At first it looks like a squad-based tactical game based on the Fallout engine and nothing more, but there is a thin layer of extra content which is actually quite fun. It's not much, but it's there.

My favourite are some of the special encounters, particularly the one with the Deathclaws in the dark...

Going for an Unarmed build is suicide. The Robots will laugh at you before tearing you apart.

Despite all the time that has passed, Fallout Tactics is still a buggy mess. The reason the Super-Mutant missions are the toughest is because of one of the bugs: The Browning M2 has a very VERY high chance of getting critical hits with its burst mode at ludicrous distances. Most people found this out the hard way when their squadmates are torn apart from two screen distances away by a Super Mutant on a grassy knoll. That's what makes the St. Louis mission so hard; the optional fortification in the southwest is full of Browning Mutants.

Kansas City is by far the most enjoyable mission in the game, a post-apocalyptic "Magnificent Seven" scenario.

Yeah, I have the same impression - though mainly about character graphics. I have an impression that graphics in Fo1 were more touched up.

New character/critter graphics in Fo2 also had something soulless about them. They kinda looked out of place.

And porting or even redoing part of the art assets would be a problem how?
It would be better to port Fallout to something like JA2. At least it has a decent combat system.

Yeah, a game with Fallouts graphics and the JA2 combat system. I would pay hundred bucks just to be able to play that. :bounce:

FOT is shit (seriously, bored me quite a bit through to the point of not actually finishing it - and I tend to finish even really sucky games out of dumb OCD), but its handling of combat was a *VAST* improvement over FO1-2, and since engine is pretty much only actually used for combat in FO beyond its basest capabilities such as moving around...

Anyone know how to make screenshots and videos with the SVN build of DosBox?
I just use Fraps with a shortcut key but you'll have to set opengl as your renderer, pretty sure that'll work for any version of DOSBox. Haven't had any problems so far. You could also use something like MSI Afterburner too or various other capture programs.

I ended up just using Irfanview since I already have that program installed. It works well enough for screen captures. I've just become too lazy to take notes, so I just screen cap anything I need to remember.

Play Penumbra afterwards bro.
I'd consider Penumbra much better for one reason alone - less fucking scripting.

Amnesia is fucking great, tense, removes some of Penumbra's awkwardness (takes derp out of quasi scientific puzzles, by not making them wrong to qualified person, for instance), has much better production values, and superior art direction, but if you make a scary game and then script scary moments in formulaic manner that makes them easy to handle and leave no persistent threats, you demolish the whole point of your game.

Yeah, Penumbra might have had enemies that looked as if modeled by some student as part of their blender project and animated by Bethesda's animators, but they were deadly and persistent, either staying in place or roaming about. In Amnesia they mostly just appear, search, and go away so you simply hide in the nearest closet and count the seconds.

Now, since Amnesia was superior in pretty much every other aspect, if it also had Penumbra style enemies... dear fucking god.

Also sanity mechanics was cool but inconsequential - if you want to make resource precious, you need to actually make it so. If you can actually drain it away with no consequence, then it doesn't really add anything to your game.

Amnesia with persistent monsters, with lanterns, so they can see you in the dark. I hope you're reading this, Thomas.

You can say what you want, but this game still looks darn beautiful to me. (was internetless for some hours and played the campaign out of boredom)

I think it's battlefield.
The jet mission is pretty fun(ny). (in a sad, tragic, way).

It is the Battlefield 3 Campaign, yah. I forgot to take pictures of the missions with the russians. These are goddamn gorgeous and have nice gameplay.
