Just out of curiosity, is there any non-Codex review that doesn't praise PoE as the next best thing since porn?

I doubt it.. Not in a world where this can happen:

http://www.metacritic.com/game/pc/dragon-age-inquisition/critic-reviews?dist=positive

Do note that DA:I has a pretty low user score. PoE. however, stands at a confortable 8.5 last I checked.

Bottom line: non-codex are also capable of realizing how shitty the DA series is, but PoE hate is a Codex thing.

The question was about reviews.. However ~~

I don't like the game, but I can't be bothered to take that discussion past a few threads on this forum (AKA I am not mentally retarded enough to create a meta critic account).. which is mostly for my own pleasure anyway. Believe it or not.. meta critic users are not a golden standard for if a game is good or not.

In fact...

I think the only way you could convince me to sign up to meta critic is if the game I was balls deep in love with and was made by my favourite waifu game designer was suddenly under attack by dissenters and betrayers of my favourite online communities..

Or in other words..
:butthurt:

EDIT: Can I just point something else out about your logic?

POE User Scores:
  1. Positive: 270 out of 347
  2. Mixed: 31 out of 347
  3. Negative: 46 out of 347
So because 270 people.. out of ~6 billion people on the planet, or potentially 100's of thousands of copies sold.. said the game was good.. we now all have to accept that as infallible truth?

Your point being what exactly? Please tell me that you're not suggesting that everyone voting on Metacritic is a butthurt fanboy trying to defend a game... the argument makes zero sense, especially since you're replying to a comment which pointed out DA:I's ~5 user rating.

I'm just pointing the facts to you, not stating an opinion. Gonna try and make it clearer:

The question was about reviews

http://www.metacritic.com/game/pc/pillars-of-eternity

Zero negative, zero mixed. So, according to metacritic, NO, there are NO negative reviews outside the codex.

meta critic users are not a golden standard for if a game is good or not.

Nobody is.

I think the only way you could convince me to sign up to meta critic

I'm not trying to convince you of anything, I couln't care less, actually.

So because 270 people.. out of ~6 billion people on the planet, or potentially 100's of thousands of copies sold.. said the game was good.. we now all have to accept that as infallible truth?

That's how statistics work. And they don't bring any sort of "infallible truth".

Okay, I see that now.

If he was suggesting that those user ratings are relevant in some way then I agree with you, they definitely are not. The critic ratings on there are equally useless.

Statistics don't work that way.. Your talking about a seed of ~300 people to represent a demographic of potentially a million or more users with a selection bias of people who gave enough of a shit to make a meta critic account.

If I was your stats teacher I would flunk you.

That was my point actually.. he was asking if there are any negative reviews of PoE and I supplied reviews of what I believe to be the dumpiest piece of shit of 2015.. to show just how biased and shitty your average review is.

So please, do post a better statistic than the one at Metacritic.com.

Because even the polls at the codex show positive-to-mixed results.

RPGCodex polls are also pretty biased because again, you have a barrier to entry that creates selection bias. I would send out random polls / feedback to users who have purchased and logged a certain amount of time on the game (Maybe 3 - 5 hours minimum).

I would also try to get more responses then 300, and I would require each response be tied to a unique copy of the game. You could also try to select equal amounts of people from either Steam / GoG / Physical purchase and even try to get an equal amount of people from both the KS campaign and new players who didn't KS it at all.

Of course I can't do that, but it would offer much better results then an open poll with multiple choices (Half of them being KingComrade) with no realistic way to prove voters are not double voting on alt accounts or even if they have the fucking game in the first place..

And I never argued for "Infallible truth".. I was pointing out the opposite. That meta critic votes are not a valid argument to counter my issues with the game.

Steam limits its review system to people that actually own the game and gueeeess what?

Yep, very positive results.

Understand this: there is nothing wrong with disliking PoE and there is nothing wrong with having a dissenting opinion.

HOWEVER, the more you try to PROVE that PoE is NOT being praised by pretty much EVERYONE (players and critics and even the fucking Codex) the more dellusional you look.

If you search the PoE forums you will see I have a fair amount of grievances with the game (mostly about the dumbass plot), but I'm not stupid enough to pretend that PoE, even with all its shortcomings, does not beat 95% of the popamole crap released on the last decade.

By the way, where did you get those numbers? When I visit the page it says:

Positive: 1,340 out of 1,571
Mixed: 53 out of 1,571
Negative: 178 out of 1,571

...which is actually likely to be quite a bit more representative simply because of the larger number. Still not proof of anything of course. Honestly, I would think that user scores on metacritic would usually tend to be biased toward being more negative because people who are upset or disappointed are more likely to do the work of actually casting a vote. Either way, ~1500 votes doesn't demonstrate a consensus. It certainly does seem to me, though, that it's highly regarded by most CRPG gamers. Of course I don't give a shit for how highly regarded it is by most gamers, I'm sure they all will think The Witcher 3 is God's gift to mankind, but popular opinions don't define or influence my tastes.

[PoE does] beat 95% of the popamole crap released on the last decade.

Agreed.

...In real life people DO adopt the heaviest armor they can, armor ISN'T heavy enough or bulky enough to decrease mobility more than marginally,...
...we're talking small arms protection...
...The best suitable to the situation...

Yes, when I talked about heaviest armor possible I was clearly referring to walking around with a mobile bomb shelter around you capable of protecting against nukes. Only one moving the goalposts is you, it's clear that there is no reason to wear armor that protects against non-existent threats.

I have no idea now that you ask.. I must of been looking at a snapshot of scores from an older date?

and that my review should definitely be postponed indefinitely because a "balanced review" (tm) should come before it because I obviously "don't get" the game.
So ... any guess when that more "balanced" review will be finished?

Wasn't Vault Dweller supposed to write it?
Does he even have time for such distractions? AoD isn't finished and he writes reviews. That's GRRM all over again, I tell you! :argh:

It was supposed to be a joint review in a 'talk show' format. Unfortunately, Grunker's father passed away, so the review is delayed indefinitely, which is understandable. Hard to give a fuck about some game and debate its qualities when you're dealing with such a loss.

Absolutely. All trolling aside, this is sad news indeed. My condolences Grunker.

With all due respect to the tragedy involved, that talk show format sounds lame as fuck anyway.

Similar to the SA talk show reviews of Dungeon and Dragon books.. where one writer feigns being a moron who can barely read and the other pretends to be very knowledgeable on DnD (But is actually a retard as well)..

:incline:

Thank you for sharing your opinion.

That's a bomb disposal suit, we're talking small arms protection. If you compare this to Fallout, Combat Armor is probably underpowered and too light.
Totally off-topic but, I really wish they had incorporated this into Captain Americas movie costume, seems so obviously appropriate.
