"So, are we running now? We should likely be running now."

Everybody who is not searching needs to make effort rolls, this determines how long it takes to set your barricade.

Amon runs back down stairs and looks around the sitting room where the madame is trussed up to a chair and gagged. Her eyes flash and her nostrils flare as he runs by in the direction of the doors at the back of the room. The heavy wood door that they darted inside of (and presumably set the alarm?) is locked. The double-doors on along the north wall however are not locked. Amon cracks the doors a hand-span and peeks through; beyond lays a well manicured garden. In the middle of the garden is a gazebo . . .

Amon looks around for something to bar the door and luckily slides a silver fire-poker through the brass handles of the double doors - easy. Second to that he slides a chair out from behind the long table in the middle of the room and tilts it back under the doorknob where the girls disappeared into and then runs back upstairs where other people are sliding couches and making a general racket. You see that one of the eunuchs is still conscious but still writhing on the floor in agony; it's been at least 2 minutes (10 rounds) since Urash cast his spell on him.

Meanwhile . . .

Borric easily grabs two stuffed high back chairs in either hand and drags them into the hall where a divan has been dragged. It is heaped with bedding, linens, and rugs; basically anything flammable that isn't bolted down. Once set alight everyone agrees it will make a fine barricade.
You rolled a critical on your effort roll, that means STR is eligible for an improvement roll the next time I call for it. I marked it off for you.

However . . .

A loud *thump* reverberates against the front doors as something heavy smashes into it. Taking this as a cue to get the hell out of there, Amon dashes back up the stairs, and passes a stout wooden door at the top of the landing on his left (along the north wall of the landing) that begins to open about 2 seconds after he passes it.

He glances over his shoulder to see a tall, slim woman in a sheer, diaphanous gown holding a slim broadsword of silvery metal in each hand that flames with an intense cold-blue light that is almost painful to look at. More strangely, she doesn't seem the least bit perturbed or startled by Amon's presence. She merely cocks her head to the side, much the same way a cat looks at an insect crawling on the floor. Her face is completely obscured by a pale alabaster mask carved as the face of a beautiful, impassive woman with a slight alien cast to her features. There's something about her piercing eyes behind the mask that makes you feel very small and weak.

Barricade ready to burn, Rhenmyr starts ushering people to the rope.

"Light it up as soon as Amon is past, Solon. Then follow quickly!"

Rhenmyr will stand rear guard at the top of the rope. I suggest Borric and U/Oona go first, Urash, then Marcán, Solon, myself and Amon last since he thinks he's spider man and can potentially bring the rope with him.

Amon leaps over the pile of furniture and bedding and Solon unleashes his spell and the stuff quickly ignites and begins to fill the hall with thick roiling, black smoke. Amon and Rhenmyr spare a glance behind them, past the conflagration erupting in front of them and see the tall, slim woman gliding across the landing coming right towards the barricade without pausing. When she gets about 10 feet away from the flames she stops and "lets go" of the two swords she's holding and they just float there, hanging in the air. She holds out one hand, palm extended to the flame and begins to utter syllables of almost unbearable beauty and power. You don't wait to see what the outcome of her spell is.

You all hustle through the doors to the curtain wall, pass under the bartizan and from inside, peek down into the courtyard where a startling sight greets you. Eight tall, nude maidens armed with spears and shields and bronze helms are in formation coming through the gates. Under the portico roof, the gray feet and legs of a statue come-to-life can be made out next to the front door, where it is apparently smashing in the heavy metal-banded double-doors.

The Amazons are about 50m away from you and have not yet seen you. There are about 20 meters of open ground to get to the rope that is hanging from the parapet.

"Let me help cover our escape."

Amon casts midnight, placing the dark blob about three feet to the side of the rope next to the wall to conceal everyone's escape. But alas, and unseen force decides that success is not possible today.

Midnight =[1d100] = 100 = Fumble

FFS!

If nobody moves to climb down per his suggestion, Rhemnry takes U/Oona and gets the hell out of there.

The space on top of the curtain wall where the rope is dangling is now completely enveloped in a swirling globe of black smoke. Almost in unison, the entirety of the Amazons turn and look at the ball of darkness that springs from nothing, and four of them begin jogging over to the wall to investigate, while the other four sprint toward the main entrance which has now been sundered open. Seizing the moment, Rhenmyr dashes across the narrow path on top of the wall and disappears inside behind the globe of black. He fumbles around for a few seconds and finds grabs the rope. Seconds later . . .
Four amazon's hurl their spears into the dark globe (13%) at Rhemyr: roll [1d100] = 76%, [1d100] = 93%, [1d100] = 73%, [1d100] = 68%
Fortunately for Rhenmyr the distance was probably a bit long for a hurled spear and the darkness undoubtedly hindered their aim.

Grimgravy How are you planning to get Oona down? She's basically acting like someone strung out on opium; about 120 lbs. of near dead-weight. It's 30 feet to the narrow ledge below the wall, but you can't see, enveloped in Amon's spell.
While this is going on, whomever is barring the postern door feels a very strong force begin to push against it.
One person can try to hold the portal shut in a STR vs. STR contest

As per his original casting, Amon placed the globe about three feet off of the rope, but in a direction to obscure the people climbing down from the Amazons. I will move it over the rope on my turn to climb down as I plan on being last. That way all they see looking down is a black globe.

Rhenmyr rigs up a makeshift harness with his rope. He slings her over his back, arms around his neck legs around his waist and tied off. That done over he goes and down. He proceeds as quickly as is safe.

I made a secret repair/devise roll for you . . . Rhenmyr feels fairly confident in his handiwork. Make an Effort roll.

Another round or two goes by as Rhenmyr improvises a simple rope harness to secure Oona. The postern door is becoming ice-cold to the touch . . .

Borric's 18 STR vs. 14 STR Force, to hold the door (70%) roll [1d100] = 5%
Borric stands fast against the door and holds it for one round, allowing two more people to descend after Rhenmyr this round
an Easy Agility Roll (DEX x 10)
Moggle and Solon take advantage Easy Agility Rolls to slide down the rope: Moggle (150%) [1d100] = 66%, Solon (90%) [1d100] = 83%
Moggle has no difficulty, and despite his ample girth and advanced years, Solon manages to hold on and slide down the rope (barely).

Borric is still holding the postern door, Amon is waiting until the last possible moment, Marcán has yet to decide what he's going to do, and Urash has yet to act.
